Okay my Western Mass peeps. I used to have a great tire balance guy, who for some reason now say any AT Tire you get or put on will vibrate etc. I need a new guy that knows their shit and I don't have to keep going back etc? Getting some new Cooper Pro's

 

Wow, you definitely need a new tire guy! I dowant to try beads on my next set though...

Not western ma, but the shop I use for my LC occasionally in Holliston would be able to do it. I know you work on Route 9, it's not exactly close but They give you a free loaner. They specialize in Land Rovers and Landcruiser, and jeeps as well. They don't go by book rates, just hourly but they are worth it. A good portion of their work is offroad/ lifted vehicles. BDR Automotive.

The balance beads you pour in the tire. They negate need for wheel weights. At low speeds you'd have some minor vibes, but if you use the correct amount once moving they spread out in the tire and naturally balance it using the power of physics. Or maybe bro-science, I forget which.

Seth nailed it, balance beads. Little glass beads that use centrifugal force to self balance the tire. Theyre great for meaty tires that are tough to balance otherwise. Also good for off road because they rebalance the tire if a chunk comes out of it. I want them because the higher load range tires can be tough to balance at times and the balance seems to change over time also.

 

Better for faster speeds though right? I do pretty much all city

 

Not really, they work at just about anything over a couple miles an hour

They do alignments too? Been contemplating spc's so I can crank the lca's forward for clearance but I sure as hell wouldn't know how to set em lol

 

They sure do. They will even set it to what you want and not be all ehhh it's outside the mfr specs, you're gonna wreck your tires nonsense.

 

They certainly don’t give them away, but if you get them in when the tires are new, that could be a few years of well balanced tires.

I have a buddy that has a mounter and balancer in his garage, he did the tires on my old tundra

 

Plastic Airsoft BB's are an alternative to balance beads. Balance beads really shouldn't be used for smaller than a 37 though, they do take a minute to balance the tire after sitting

 

Does your buddy have skills?

 

Yes, I didn't have any issues. Was $100 for 285/70/17's to be mounted and balanced. Hes a huge car guy and makes sure things are right and wheels dont get scratched
