I offloaded mine yesterday. 31k on a 2020, got 45k for it. Drove it almost 2years for a little over 2k. I'll drive my land cruiser until things normalize and then get a full size something. The rental stuff was pushing me towards something bigger. I really liked it but it was just a tad small for as many trips to Lowe's as I've been making.

Not a day goes by that I don't get an email from the dealer trying to entice me to trade. It now goes into my junk folder. If they asked me I'd tell them to fuck off. They're trolling for suckers and I know it.

I’ve tried to get online quotes for mine from KBB and Carmax and they aren’t able to. Who did you go to?

Mine is already for sale, never liked it that much anyways. Looks better than my 2005 but, IMHO the 2nd gen was a better truck.
29.5 K is the best offer I got so far.

A friend traded in his 16 DCSB Sport with 50,000 miles. He paid $34,000 new and got $30,000 on trade - five years driving for about $66/month. Got to love the Tacoma resale value! One battery, one set of tires and 5 oil changes were all the service the truck required.

He bought a Grand Cherokee :anonymous:

Not even a consideration. I bought for the long term. I am close to completing the pay off mod and now it's time to seriously consider how I want to adapt the truck to my liking. I already ordered up new wheels.

Having spent the last 25 years in the wholesale auto business (and retired this year) I always felt new Tacoma trucks were underpriced and were a great value. I don’t expect they will EVER be underpriced again. I’ m pretty sure DC Off Road/Sports will be 40k plus forever more... and base SRs will remain in the low/mid 30s. Once chips become available, which could be at a couple more years… Prices are not going to fall. There will be several years worth of pent up demand for new and used vehicles. So you’ll get top dollar now, and you’ll pay top dollar later, new or used. I agree with several previous posts that your truck is more valuable than the dollars you’ll be paid for it.

I hate that I am reading this thread. My commute just got super longer from last year, driving 500 miles per week now which is like 350$ Per month in gas. Bought mine a year ago new for 37k, car max is offering 39k with 20,000 on odo. —- I love the truck, for me its a surf truck, kids beach mob truck, but i have found it to be like a Swiss Army knife, it can serve so many different functions. — but financially the brain based decision is sell and get into a used hybrid and wait out until an ev or good hybrid version truck i like is avail. —- but heart based decision, wouldn’t consider selling it at all, if ever. —- heck still considering just sticking it out, ugh.

When you think about it, my father did a similar weekly commute and even the basic American cars back then got 20-22 MPG which is not THAT far off from what I would bet you average. So not terrible even if you keep the truck.

One thing the truck doesn't do well is commuting. Mileage sucks in my Taco. My old Honda Fit gets precisely double the MPG. Buy a beater commuter car it'll pay for itself within 2 years, extra insurance costs etc accounted for. Save the taco miles for the fun stuff.

I have a 2019 OR and thought about it also, but keep in mind toyota is decreasing production by 40% and inflation is going up so you might be paying a ton of money for a new one later on.

I recently traded in my 20 Sierra for a 21 SR5 and couldn't be happier...I'd always wanted a Tacoma, but early last year it was just easier and a better deal/value(?) to get the Sierra. Things I'll never miss are auto start/stop, cylinder deactivation, push button parking brake...too much crappy "tech" - it was just too big imo as well.

...it's not every day you can make some serious money on a depreciating asset.
