Just bought a 2016 TRDOR, and it has a Leer camper shell installed and I thought the rear sat a bit high for being stock. Looked up under it today and sure enough saw these, but Im not sure what they are. Id like to pull them out and replace them with stock components or lower them if possible, so I can get it as close to level as possible with the 5100s I just bought and so the 265 KM3s dont look like tricycle tires. Thanks in advance!

I can’t tell if those are air bags or giant bump stops.

either way they don’t seem to be doing anything to ride height. And it doesn’t look like you have a block or add a leaf in there.

Unless it’s an aftermarket leaf pack

So I scoured the truck for a switch, but couldnt find anything anywhere. I did find an area above the bed light switch where it looks like there used to be an adhesive switch and they took it off.

If it is an airbag, is there any way to deflate them? So I can have that level look and such.

Also, heres a pic of the way my truck sits ATM, it looks like it might sit a bit higher than factory to me…but Im not 100% sure.

Does the line I see in the first picture go to the thing on the leaf spring or no?

I guess if you have an air compressor somewhere on the truck would answer the question too.

I'm guessing someone did a rear diff breather mod.

Couldnt find any air compressor or lines going to it…so Im guessing it is a helper spring of some sort. From what Im reading, it seems like theres a type thatll go over your factory bump stop and a kind that replaces it, Im hoping it just sits over it so I can get it removed easily. Not wanting any extra lift in the rear.

Off topic, but how could I tell if this has been done? I deal with a lot of water in my area, so I was wanting to do something like that anyways, along with a snorkel.

What he said. Those are Sumo springs. They just enhance load carrying capabilities. Made out of urethane. Doesn't add any lift

Look at the third member. If there's a hose coming off of it someone rerouted it. If it's just a breather on it....well then it wasn't rerouted

As others have said, I do not see any evidence of a lift in your pictures. If you want to get an approximation of your ride height compared to stock, measure the distance from the center of the hub to the edge of the fender flare. Stock is 22-22.5" in the rear and 21-21.5" in the front. The passenger side is usually about 0.5" higher.

I'm confused by "so I can get it [...] so the 265 KM3s dont look like tricycle tires"

Thank you! Measured it and it was fine, was worried for nothing. In that case, Im happy that the truck cane with the springs considering the shell and how loaded down its gonna be during hunting season.

It cut this out for some reason. Just didnt want it to be lifted so far in the rear that I had to adjust the front shocks accordingly, and it made my tires look tiny. Lol

Maybe if it was a 3rd world problem, it could be on a diesel Hilux :(

Your truck looks great and you will be able to level it with 5100s but if you think the tires look too small you can always get bigger ones
