A bit late to the game I know. I think the VER penalty was more about getting both drivers to cool their jets a little. Both are aggressive and unlikely to back down from the other. The last two incidents were within a hair's breadth of causing considerable injury. That has to stop.

 

Well it's unfortunately what happens in racing. Rivalries have been happening since 1950. These guys are ruthless on the track. Luckily the safety devices in these cars are helping to reduce injury as speeds and G forces increase.

 

I think the aftermath of the collision is penalty enough. It isn't the first time drivers have taken each other out and the penalty has been a DNF.

Exactly my thoughts. I want to see hard racing, I want to see mistakes. Sometimes it favors my driver and sometimes it doesn't. That's racing. The halo did it's job so yeah, let's move on I think.

 

So are they just supposed to not race each other? That's awfully boring.

Not saying i want to see big crashes every weekend but when you have two championship contender's that are so close in points i dont see either of them backing down.

i guess we all know neither will give an inch going forward in that close situation, it could easily be the championship moment if they did. so get ready for more Senna Prost. assuredly, they have both thought it through entirely and are ready for more terminal events.

 

Alonso make a great patriarch in F1. Kimi could but his vocabulary seems to be limited to run on sentences.

 

Will Redbull take a new engine (& associated penalty) for Vestappen's car for Sochi?

 

One would assume so it gets rid of his 3 grid place penalty as well. Doesn’t make sense to take the 3 place and a new engine in different races
