I know this might be bordering on thread resurrection and might be off topic, but I had 2 questions.

1: Is it safe to run wire through the A-pillar?

Reason I am asking is cause I have a Visor light I am installing and do not want the wire (comes out on driver side) hanging down where it can be seen or accidentally damaged.

2: Is it safe to run cable along the front of the headliner?

The visor bar is in 2 pieces with a wire between them.

I do not want them to effect any safety features but I do not wanna permanently damage the truck just yet.

    Also another question:
Will the headline support the weight of a traffic advisor lightbar?

I have a Traffic advisor but the suction mounts keep my rear headrests from being put up.

    Thanks
    Sam

Pop the 2 covers out of the grab handle. Use a 10 mm socket to remove the 2 bolts and pull the handle off. Then you can pull the plastic trim off and run your wires. You can use tape to hold the wires in place so they don't get pinched by the trim panel. Then you can just stuff the wires under the front edge of the headliner. When you put the trim panel back, it's a little bit tricky to get it tucked in the bottom just right. You need to put it away at the top and then swing it upward.

    No.

Anyone wanting to pull it. Lay front seats down and it’s decently pliable. Came out fairly easy and good as new. No creases.

What do you have going on in the headliner?

Sound deadening for one. Contemplating changing the color to black as well.

last I’ll be seeing what wiring I need to run for switches, camera etc so I don’t have wires everywhere in the cab.

Tossing in some 80mm Noico and a layer of 150mm red on top.

Great write-up/thread. I've got a 2009 Access Cab which apparently has small cheap speakers behind the headliner. Just wondering if there's anything preventing me from getting some upgraded speakers to swap out. Any ideas on what speakers fit so I could have them before pulling the headliner down?

If there is a speaker for the stereo or possibly it was for a CB or other com?

IMO, you're better off throwing those in the trash and running longer wire to the access cab doors.

There is two empty spots in each access cab door where Toyota use to put rear speakers, then cheaped out.

Yeah, I know the rear doors are a much better location. Don't really want to fool with wiring and then having to deal with cutting the plastic trim since my 09 doesn't have speaker cutouts. Thought maybe there was a real speaker above the headliner that would allow you to put a 3-4" mid-high range speaker up there but after seeing the stock headliner "speakers" maybe I'll reconsider.

I wonder if the speaker wire is there too. They tend to run stuff then never install.

Those turds are trash. They stopped working 4 years into ownership lol. I'm guessing the wiring to it is just as bad.

You know, I looked while I was in there and couldn't find a unused connector. If there is it's hidden extremely well.

Thank you for the detailed write-up on the headliner removal. I recently removed the headliner to determine where a water leak was coming from...found to be leaking from the top p/s of the rear window. When I dropped the headliner, I noticed a small black plastic piece had fallen from the p/s of the headliner. The d/s piece was still attached to the headliner (circled in photo). Before I reattach the p/s I wanted to ask what the correction orientation would be when installing and if anyone knows what it is. Thanks!

these are just spacers pads for the headliner. So as long as it goes in and lays fine your good. Seems correct or you may be able to tell. I had mine out and some fell off i just taped them back on and putit back on. I wouldn't think too hard about it as its there to just give it space.
