    OooOoooOooooo alternate realities....

Sherman, set the way back machine to 1960. We're going to watch the Twilight Zone. Yes Mr Peabody.

Edit to ask if your reality is Sunny with low humidity and temperatures in the 80s? This reality at the moment consists of clouds and drizzle in the upper 60s...

Oh and I need a boat launch within an hour's drive.

    Unfortunately it's overcast and 80° F and 100% humidity.

But I got your boat launch.

However I spilled a milkshake in the turbo encabularor and it's stuck on the water ski park output mode.

    It's got water slides though.

Alright, here's a little update on the situation with my Tacoma:
My URD fuel pump/filter upgrade kit arrived and after a night of working on putting that bit together, testing ignition, checking lines and all that entails changing a fuel pump, as of this afternoon my problem still persists.

Although I'm thrilled to never have to access the tank to change a fuel filter again, it looks like I'm back to square one.

Everything worked as normal yesterday and this morning, but as soon as I was ready to head to work this afternoon, I excitedly turned the key anticipating the best possible outcome and....nope! I will note that it was a little bit on the warmer side this afternoon, and I'm still trying to figure out if that means anything. However, I simply turned the key all the way off, and then tried to start again and it fired right up.

At this point, I'm considering just taking it in to the stealership and letting them take a crack at it, and I'm sure they'll be thrilled to see the recent modification to the fuel system

I know this is an old thread but did you ever get a resolution? I'm having a very similar problem with my 09 4.0 Tacoma.

Admittedly, I never found the culprit, but narrowed it down to the wiring behind the drivers side kick panel. Putting pressure on the OBD port under the dash would seem to temporarily correct the issue. Sometime back in July I went in to tidy up some aftermarket wiring and ended up wrapping the OBD wires nice and tight with electrical tape so they wouldn't have room to move around as much. I'm not sure if the OBD wires were the culprit or not but after reassembling the dash I never had a problem since, and this was just before the summer 100+ heat.

Let me ask you this: when your Tacoma refuses to start, does the check engine light come on? Normally with the key in the on position and the engine off, the check engine light will be illuminated. However, in my case, I would know the truck wasn't going to start because when I'd turn the key to "ON" without cranking the engine, the check engine light would be off, and instead the stability control light would be on. This was due to the engine computer not getting power, thus not sending fuel or spark to the engine. That's why it would crank but have no sign of life.

Here's a more recent update on my situation; hopefully it helps you out: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/possible-electrical-issue-or-bad-sensor.763088/

I don't remember what lights were on while it wouldn't start. It happened for the second time yesterday. The first time it happened I unplugged the throttle position sensor and it started right up. I plugged it back up and it kept runny. After this my check engine light and stability control light were both on. I assume they were on because the throttle position sensor had been unplugged. This time, I again unplugged it with no result. I assume it was just a coincidence that it started the last time . This morning it started right up, no lights on. Very frustrating... I hate to start replacing parts with no ideas. No way of knowing if it's fixed until the next no start. I'm lucky that both times it happened I was sitting in my driveway.

If its cranking your battery or cables are not an issue. If it was it wouldn't crank at all.

Let’s start with easy stuff first.

Does your anti-theft light continue to blink with the key in the ignition. You may need to turn the key to accessory to get to to stop. (You shouldn’t but you
    might)

The light needs to stop flashing with the key in the ignition.
