Doesn’t matter. Gotta look good with the KOBros when he’s sliding all over in the winter time

Funny, I have the exact opposite to say. My company ram 1500 had 285/17 ko2s and they rode great in all conditions and lasted a long time then they put on the falken's and they sucked major ass year round, even on dry pavement.

I've had the ko & ko2 (33x12.5x15 & 33x10.5x15) on my personal trucks back east for ages and they are great in the rain, snow, beach, daily driving and off roading. i would have bought them now but they didn't make a 255/85/16.

Owned 3 sets of each. KO2’s suck compared to Wildpeaks.

Have KO2’s right now as they came with the truck I bought and I can’t wait to take them off.

I just switched from nitto mudders (285/65/18) to bfg at2 (285/70/17) and the difference is more than I could have imagined. The scs wheels are lighter than the previous fuel wheels also. It is so much quieter on the road and can even carry on a conversation on the freeway at normal volume. I really like the c rating that is available with the bfg. with all the weight savings I can feel a power difference starting and stopping, and the fuel economy has increased. The ride is also so much smoother. I have never run the wild peaks. I would definitely recommend to watch your weight on the tire and I do not like the stiffness from the e ply tires.

I like the K02 appearance - i'm a little swayed by the comments but I can't imagine BFG is making a tire that people are sliding all over the place in the rain. Seems a bit far fetched.

my truck came with ko2s. They sucked in the rain and snow. Deep snow they were not bad but in the winter when it hit -20,30 they turned into ice skates, that being said wildpeaks aren't that great in extreme temps either, but now I have dedicated winter tires so idgaf about how they are on ice and snow.

Tire Rack in their test does admit the K02 loses grip in the wet but on extreme end of the spectrum ===> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcmIJ-CvIHk

I guess if you are pushing your tires to 10/10, yes you're going to break loose in the rain.

I'm still on the factory Toyos, and I've been impressed that I haven't broken loose in some sketchy situations. But I def want a more aggresive look at this point.

My guess is it's all the geniuses running E rated tires on a light trucks and complaining about performance on winter street conditions

    Hi All,

I have a 2017 OR that needs some new tires. Falkens seem to be the way to go according to this thread. My question to everyone is should I go with 265/70R16 or LT265/75R16? I have Spidertrax wheel spacers that I want to keep. I couldn't tell from the "Will this fit/ Rub" thread if the LT's would rub or not. At only 1" on the diameter, I'm hoping no, just curious if anyone has any experience either way.

    Like many, I'm 90/10 city/off road (more like 98/02).

    Cheers

I also have a 2017 OR. I put the Wildpeaks on about 30k ago and they still have plenty of tread….I figure another 25k. I do 90/10 Hwy/city and did the Passenger version(not LT) as the ride would be much firmer and from my previous experience with LT rated, last about 60% of use time compared to the standard load version (this was on another brand of tire and truck).

Also, went with the 265/16/75 but riding on Method wheels so no spacers being used.

the only tires I’ve found that keep my front end pointed forward in the rain has been Michelins. They’re the gold standard for wet traction. But when I had BFG’s on an older Tacoma I found they were pretty terrible on wet or icy roads. I was curious if the KO2 improved the compound for wet traction… owned by Michelin now, aren’t they?

I know right I've been sitting here on the sidelines and thinking I've never seen the ko2's fail in the snow, my trucks tuned so any tire is gonna suck in the rain, ko2's last forever period . My mom's 04 Tahoe 4 yrs on a set of 315/75/16.

My buddies 91 Toyota pickup had like 30" ko2's and he did better in the snow than my 33" km2's on my 92 Toyota pickup

Went with the LT KO2, except for the stiff ride which I expected, no complaints after 17K IMG_5894.jpg no complaints yet after 17K

If snow/ice is a concern then dedicated winter tires should be brought into the conversation. Anyone in northern states or canada like me who get 4-5 months of potential below zero weather should have a 2nd set of tires.

It's expensive up front but once you have them you only put half a year of wear on them every year so in the end you're still only buying tires at the same rate.

No A/T tire, M/T tire, is going to be even close to a dedicated winter tire. Bridgestone Blizzaks are an excellent option. Their grip on snow and ice defies physics.

I'm still running my original stock goodyears during summer/fall on my 2017 trd offroad (though hopefully upgrading those to an a/t in spring).

    tl;dr
Get proper winter tires instead of wining about other tires lack of winter performance.
