F4C3F589-4B3A-40FE-9F41-C9CFC4292193.jpg The OEM glass breakage sensor part no. PT398-35160 is plug-and-play and you don’t need Techstream to activate it if you already have the keyless alarm. Also the kit instructions say to not install the V5 harness if your hood latch does not have a dummy plug, but it works with trucks that have a latch release sensor cable installed (I assume having the alarm made that OK as well).

Edit: As others mentioned below, while installing it don’t worry about detaching your hood release lever cable, it’s possible to work around the panel and leaving it still attached is easier. I also suggest just using the tie wraps wherever you think it will be more secure, following the directions for that did make it harder, and when coiling up the extra cable, don’t bundle it into a tight coil or it’ll be too thick for the side panel to close up again. Other than that, the installation was quite easy.

As for setting it, start with sensitivity 8 (not 6) and don’t test it right after locking the truck- it has a delay of 30 seconds before it activates.

I purchased mine from here: https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...ta&Model=Tacoma&Year=2017&Submodel=&Filter=()

Cool! My next project is to wire in a radio that uses VOX as a remote alarm sensor- that way it will let me know if anything is amiss if I am away from the truck as I have to sometimes park it along roads and hike in for work in remote places…

Naw, It’s just because of a volunteer part time project I am going to be helping out with soon. I will be doing bat surveys and we’ll be hiking up to mines to check them out. The problem is that we can’t drive in (wilderness areas) so my truck is going to have to be parked along public road shoulders and  tweakers abound in the area.

That's strange. I guess it makes sense, but it's not where I pictured tweakers haha

All of my options are filled over there as the clutch-start-cancel button is in that position instead of a blank. Does anyone know where it'd go in a manual transmission truck?

Its a small two-conductor lead that goes to that mic, you could extend and attach it anywhere it would be facing the interior of the cab, it doesn’t have to be in the dashboard.

Yes, as long as you have the keyless alarm. You dont use the little terminal clip with the wire loop on the hood latch either (as long as the hood latch is wired to your alarm and hood open sensor). Also disregard the V5 (cable) statement, the V5 harness included in the kit works.
