    Hi all,

I have been researching and trying everything i can find, hoping someone can help me further.

Bought a 2021 dcsb trd or.

Immediately put on 3/2 spacer lift (i know, dont blast me) 285/75/16 ridge grapplers, replika r239 wheels and 1.25" spacers. Drove beautifully even before alignment. Had it aligned at toyota, tech said he got it asclose as he could. Again rode smooth after.

After pulling a fairly heavy trailer (squatted the rear a bit, nothing crazy) 40 miles or so i start to notice a kind of bounce in the seats, under me and my wife in the passenger.

Now its almost like the rear is bouncing, every dip in the road is exaggerated and feels like it thuds under the seats. No noises. I can hit potholes with smoothness.

Sometimes it will calm down and be ok for a bit but then come back. It does it under load, not under load, in or out of 4wd, slow, fast etc.

Lower tire pressure helps slightly, now running 30psi from 40.

Replaced rear shocks with beefier ones, no change. Retorqued everything, nothing loose. Tried 3/8 carrier drop, no change.

Rotated tires, checked for missing weights, removed spacers, still no change. Im taking it to have alignment checked and tires rebalanced, but it doesnt feel like tires are causing it.

If alignment doesnt fix it ill be swapping to bilstein 5100 front with ome 887.

Am i missing anything you can think of?? It feels like its rear, no real shaking or pulling from front end but maybe its the front shocks? There is a slight worn spot on both coild where the uca rubbed st full droop but i dont think im ever acheiving full droop on normal road conditions..

    Thanks!

It could be that the block lift in the rear reduces capacity (spitballing here, never have put much thought into spacer lifts) and you screwed your leafs towing.
Check and see if maybe one of the leafs snapped.
Order some new leaf springs that provide lift.

Had the same problem in my 2021 OR.

the rear suspension is not built to carry any sort of load for long periods of time. I RUINED the stock suspension in the rear after a couple rough offroad trips.

Billstein 5100s and an ICON leaf pack fixed that shit 100%.

I did as well. But on bounces the resistance of the rear shock was just totally gone.

Your rear struts are blown, and they got blown because the leaf pack wasn't enough to handle the load you were carrying.

That was my case anyway! My mechanic buddy I was offroading with insisted it was blown struts causing my problem...he was right.

Don't underestimate the power of an add-a-leaf. Your struts need some support to get back to neutral and not bounce back and forth like crazy. Dampening is influenced by both the quality of the strut and the leaf pack.

It's a good reason to tell the wife you need new leaf springs.
When my stock coil over failed I bought BP-51s and told my wife "they're only slightly more than oem, just be glad we don't have to pay for install".

    Knowledge is good.
I have a 2021 TRD OR DC LB 4x4, and I've thought the ass end of mine was mushy.
Since I put a SnugTop canopy on it's back, the re-bounce it gets is like a bucking horse.

Yeah my problems started when I started pushing 500+ lbs of extra load from my tonneau, bed rack, RTT and gear. Plowed a few fire roads and the stock suspension was ready to give out. Completely loose, no dampening, unsafe at speed.

5100s and an ICON pack made it better than new and able to handle the load perfectly. They were a bit squeaky but I just fixed that last night by spraying the leaf bushings with WD-40.

The stock OR suspension is not built to support heavy load and should be replaced immediately if you plan on carrying extra load. I got a few months out of mine.

Im hoping that if none are cracked i can remove the block spacer and put an aal, i do no offroading at all.. And on occasion pull a trailer that barely squats the truck.

Does anyone think it could be something in the front end? I really feel like its rear but im trying to rule everything out..

It's called Porpoising , the up and down motion while towing.

Also reducing tire PSI while towing is asking for trouble. My OR did this pretty bad as well stock. I ended up with Sumosprings which helped tremendously. Ultimately I replaced the rear leaf springs eliminated it completely.

So to fix your problems, upgrade the rear leafs in some fashion, be it add a leaf or replace the pack with something else.

When i towed the 1 time, tires were at 40psi. I went about 25k but the truck sat squatted in my driveway for a day or 2, i should have removed the weight.. Im used to a tundra, and i had an 07 tacoma with aal, that i snapped twice.. Maybe i overestimate the capacity of these trucks..

I’ve seen pics on here of leafs drooping due to being worn out rather quickly on new models. Seems like when they get worked they don’t stand up. If you pop a rear shock off and test it and see how it rebounds too. Seems like your heading the direction of changing the rear stuff out anyway, maybe a good excuse? ha

Nah, the OR and any other taco isn't a Tundra, but my truck has 61k miles on it, almost all of it loaded with about 6-800# of gear (I use my truck for work, loaded with contractor tools and parts) and I have around 30k miles of towing. The truck can take it, it just needs some help.

I've never had an issue with breaking anything.

All Taco springs are weak or soft. All of them.
