Anyone interested in a non formal, fairly loose fall camp get together once the rain is back in full effect?

Maybe somewhere in coast range, or cascades? Wet, cold and uncomfortable.
Giving everyone a chance to try out all the crap you bought or built this year to broverland with.

Big enough area to support 2-10 rigs + whatever camping arrangement they have.

A couple of nights of loose chatter around the campfire, mishmash of individually cooked meals, strong coffee in the morning. Rinse and repeat.

I figure a Thursday night, Friday night kinda thing would probably give us the most opportunity to score somewhere good, while not requiring folks to take too many days off work.

Heck, if scheduling a few days for a gathering gets goofy due to some folks working Mon-Fri 8-5, some doing the compressed type work weeks with various days off during the week, and yet others only work weekends, I have another idea.

Collectively we jot down some viable places to camp that can support a half dozen or so rigs at once. Then pick a set of dates that are mutually compatible for the majority.

From there, we could set up an actual plan that spans over three nights so that if folks can make at least one or two of those nights, there should be some overlap of campers.

Again, this would be a very non formal, very loose, non complicated campout with a bunch of strangers that share similar interests sorting out all their new gear and builds. Construct and keep a campfire buzzing to sit/stand around telling mostly true stories, while nursing their favorite adult bev.

This shouldn't be anybody's "secret" camp spot, as the cat will be out of the bag once any one of us go there.

If this works out, we could certainly do this more in the future, and in various climates/terrain.

I really like this idea since I'm a Mon-Fri guy. And being a teacher I don't really get extra days off unless the kids do too. But I do get 2.5 months off in summer so I'm not complaining lol

Decided last minute to do a trip out to Browns tomorrow. Anyone interested in joining?

Not certain what time I'm leaving yet but I'll have to head home around five.

Camp out sounds fun! I don’t have any overland gear but I have a tent and other gear. Would be fun to meet some of the local crew! I work Monday-Friday but if there is enough notice I could likely get the day off.

Just did the run from Sutherlin to Coos Bay. It’s more of a scenic route than an off-road trail. Probably the most “technical”portions are the road slumps in the paved portions of BLM. It’s all nicely maintained gravel roads on the Elliot.

This would certainly be considered more of a camp trip, and less of an overland trip.

It depends on your perspective, as some feel overlanding is anything shy of a VRBO, Air BnB, or staying home.

Either way, if you have access to some camping gear, and can crack a cold one, you'll be go to go!

Anyone with a short bed 3rd gen looking for a cheap camp drawer / sleeping platform?

This was my first pass at throwing together a quick camping setup.
I haven't used it in a while, but tossed it back in the truck to take some pics and see if anyone is interested.

I'm moving on to a different type of setup, and it feels like a real bummer to break this down and trash it.

    Facts:
    - Homebuilt, plywood, finished with some poly.
    - Prototype buildout, nothing fancy going on here.
    -
    - Modular to accomodate different type of loads. Panels are all moveable. Center front and back panels on hinges for top access.
    - Drawer runs on skateboard bearings. Not meant to support load past the tailgate when it's down. It'll store tools/kitchen setup, camp gear, etc...
    - Table top fits in drawer, gives you a flat spot to cook on tailgate, or extend your bed setup if you are sleeping inside.
    - It's not super clean, it's been well loved for a couple years, but it has no funky smells or anything crazy.
    - Sides open to store longer items. Camp chairs, ski poles, etc...

    Thinking $150?

The two front panels are a little crooked because they don't clear the new bed stiffeners I installed. If you don't have bed stiffeners, not an issue, they'll lay flat.

Drawer will store all kinds of crap.

I might be heading out that way as well looking for mushrooms. This fresh rain and a few warm days should get them popping!

Where are you staging at 9 am?

    Roger that!

If I'm feeling good after my second shot of Pfizer, I'll certainly meet up with you at Rogers at 9am Sat.

Depending on your trails of choice, I may scoot around with you'll for a bit. I want to scope my tagged haunts for mushrooms while I'm out there.

I mentioned it to my son this morning and he seemed interested in coming out as well. He's driving my old 97 1st gen.
