Hey all, time for new cat back exhaust on my 2006 Double-cab/sport/4x4/short bed.

Anyone know the best bang for the buck for cat-back (cat, muffler, pipes, gaskets, flange etc) replacements? How about best place to purchase online?

    As always, much appreciated!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It depends just where you live and if your in a state subject to CARB converters

If Not I have been using Walker Exhaust for years.

I have had luck with Amazon But I look up my part numbers on the manufactures catalog

I will say it has been a few years and things do change.

My local Choice would be Napa.

OEM. Quiet, decent life, fits like it should, fair price. My local dealer sells below list if you buy online or ask nice and they can get them in 1 day usually.

I have an election cheap-o MBRP exhaust on mine. Painted it matte black with high temp paint to remove all traces of chrome and to help with rust prevention.

It sounds about as good as any other exhaust I've heard on the 1GR-FE, so like ass lol, but I really like it.

I second this. It should be had for under $400 and will have an ever so slightly larger diameter pipe than the factory one. Should get minor gains in HP over completely OEM while maintaining 50 state legal and not getting the drone. The downside is the wait. I was told they are on national backorder and to expect 7+ months before you can get your hands on one if you order now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only difference is that the TRD exhaust is the same except for a welded on tip. I'm currently researching this and it appears they're identical diameter. 2.25 at the flange and 2.5 at the rear

IIRC the OEM exhaust pipe on 2nd gen is something like 2.35" vs the 2.5" on the TRD exhaust. Not a significant difference, but a small one. Again, IIRC, the TRD is made by Bosal and is all stainless.

As you stated, the tip is different, but that is not the only difference. The pipe diameter, material and actual muffler used are different.

    Ok.

    Hints.

Ride with one installed and listen. If the tip was the difference, everyone would want a TRD tip.

    And note the SS construction.

OP hasn't said what he wants or why he wants it.

Is his OEM exhaust rusted and sounds like crap? Maybe he wants something to fix the holes and not be super noticeable.
Is his OEM fine and he wants something louder? Maybe he wants something that is going to have everyone look at him and wonder why someone would put a loud exhaust on a stock truck.

At this point, we're all just throwing crap at the wall and hoping something sticks. I'll stand by my vote of TRD because I think it offers the best blend of OEM and aftermarket. Some modest improvements without being all ricer look-at-me.

That's highly speculative. Whatever one person desires may be completely different than what another desires. Fender>Gibson! (ok, now I'm just :stirthepot:)

So I have ‘21 and that link says it’s only for up to ‘12……. Side note. Is this different than the TRD Pro exhaust or are the TRD and TRD Pro exhausts the same?

Sorry, I was going based on OP’s first post.. To answers your question, I don’t know. Possibly the same because the 2nd gen TRD exhausts are almost the same. Only changes that I know of are the hangers are slightly different.

I would suggest checking in 3rd gen section and asking those gents.
