Just finished scrolling through all 143 pages, wow! Great builds, great ideas. I’m currently mulling over a radical shift from my DiamondBack cover, KB Voodoo rack and iKamper set up to a Habitat. Atlas is tempting and just had one at my house to look at, but I like the overhang and massive space.

Anybody switch from one to the other, and why?

I co-own a company that designed and produces PullKitchens and a couple of our customers have built them into camper tops builds. We’ve had GFC’s, shells, Treehouse, AT Habitats among others. Below is a GFC Tundra build but still it gives an idea. We designed them to be like a chuck box that can install and uninstall in a minute to free up your bed space when not camping. Our lead time is long as we can’t keep up and have a ton on order right now, just FYI. We will be at Overland Expo Flagstaff and in the Ford booth at SEMA.

Just throwing it out there as an option as I’m working out interior plans with a Habitat myself.

Nope. Ended up mounting to side of habitat. More useful there, as I used it a lot without the habitat open.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Looks good man. I am on the search for a camper for my tundra now. Not sure which direction as far a manufacturer, but I am on the hunt to see what I can find.

I am thinking about something that is like the AT Atlas or Summit, I own a GFC on my taco and it has been nice now that it’s all dialed in.
While the slide ins offer the most in comfort, space and amenities. I will still use this to haul stuff occasionally, and we got dogs so I am the AT, GFC or AluCab (full size) would do me right.

    Hi all,

Just finished reading all 144 pages and really appreciate the info. I am awaiting delivery of a Habitat in February 2022. I am strongly considering paint match option based on what I have read. Seems most of the contributors on this thread Westerners, so I am wondering if there is anyone from the NorthEast that can comment on how the unit holds up as a daily driver? Driving and dealing with Maine roads and conditions is quite the experience.

Welcome! I'm getting a Summit in April of 2022. I stuck with unpainted for the finish as my truck is dark grey and I was worried about it getting too hot. I figured the raw aluminum would reflect.

I'm in the Midwest right now, but planning on heading west in the future. Sorry I don't have any real-world experience with it...yet!

MN, does fine, but my truck is stored all winter so I can’t speak on salt issues.

This actually reminds me I had been meaning to show off my DIY rack solution. I wanted the Eezi-Awn K9, but it hasn't been in stock anywhere I looked so I just went DIY.

I used my existing rack mounting rails from my ARB rack and made a platform out of modular aluminum--not quite 8020, but same idea.
