    Don’t those “overland” trash bags and MTB tailgate pads scratch the everloving crap out of painted surfaces?

    I have a Trasharoo but it doesn’t live on my truck. When I put it on there it is on my tire carrier.

    Exactly! I feel it’s like the softopper it pretty much rubs the clear coat off the paint with all the moving and stuff.

    Yes.

    I’ve got a softopper, but put clear bra on the top lip where it makes contact with the tailgate. Quick simple fix.

    People say those pads won’t rub the paint if you attach it tight enough, but Im willing to bet that’s not the case.

    Clear non-abrasive grip tape. It's waterproof and easy to work with. Inexpensive.

    Used it under the bedside cap rails when I took the stock off because they were digging into the paint. Worked great, still going strong years later. Had a cap too, no issues with peeling or slipping.
