Good morning everyone!! Finally got the clapboards for the stable all primed - the contractor will be here tomorrow or Tuesday to hang them and then we'll put the final paint coat on them. Hopefully, I'll get grass cut today.

    Be safe out there!!

I just retired again. As I was leaving a guy ran up and ask me about working on a new project - LOL. Maybe this is just a break to recharge some. I've been out of town for a year so I have about 6 months of home duties to attend to. I have some hiking and fishing plans too. In other news I got 25.4 mph in my 3rd gen yesterday - driving down hill from Asheville, NC to the TN line.

    Morning all:
Welcome to the porch Kevin, first fill up the cooler and then pull up a chair on the porch.

Sorry to hear about the SIL being in the hospital 06, can only hope things turn out for the best for her.

I think I'm pushing my luck, was up 15' in the tree stand adjusting it, had to loosen up the straps that hold it in place and yux the platform down about 3-4" to get it level again, if it would have shifted off to the side I would have been in big trouble!

Pull up a chair the fridge and the hot beverage center is on the right. BTW If no one told you it is your turn to mow the lawn. Post up some pics of your Tacoma.

Welcome Kevin. Nice group of older Tacoma owners here in this forum. We have varied interest so if you need help with any projects just ask. One of us has probably done that before.

Good morning Carl. My coffee is down and I am off to the local farmers market to purchase some veggies and meat. We have a small meat vendor that carries a lot of different meats that are pasture raised and grass fed.

Last night's TriTip came out perfect.

I put mine up in the watershed area I hunt last month...couple weeks before my shoulder surgery. I was feeling optimistic at that point. Sort of sucked putting it up with a blown shoulder. I use a long binder strap about 6 ft up the ladder in order for me to secure the top strap without flipping the ladder . Works well.

The optimism turned South after surgery as damage to shoulder was much worse than expected. *IF* I get out, It'll be at the extreme tail end of the season. If I miss this season, that'll be the first I missed since 1975. Bummed out over that.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Looks like we have a common interest. Here’s a couple of T-bones I grilled a while back, normally we do ribeyes but these came out so good I had to record it it for posterity.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Happy to report that the mostly nothing on the agenda that was scheduled yesterday was properly taken care of!
My Rx and UPS problems were "someone else's fault" naturally, so I came home and wrote frustrated messages to the "no one's listening" addresses provided.
And someone with better ears says it's NOT the dehumidifier making noise....so, I don't have to fix it.
Another round of 321 ribs up today.

I’ve been told that my participation is required in a thorough house cleaning today. Hope we can knock out whatever she has in mind before the Bucs game at 4.

Not that anyone should care but here’s a little more about me. Like I said I just turned 61 last month, born and raised in south Jersey and moved to Florida about 30 years ago. I’ve been with the light of my life since my junior year of college (Rutgers) and married for 38 years. No kids, it’s just been the 2 of us all these years. I still work 50-ish hours a week for a telecom company where I manage a group of engineers that support wireless roaming and clearing platforms. Great job with a great bunch of guys. I’ve been very fortunate that other than cabin fever from not being able to go anywhere or do anything for the last 18 months I haven’t really been affected by covid. It has put some of our other plans on hold though, we planned to sell our house here in Odessa and move about 90 miles north to Ocala so my wife can be closer to her sister. Still gonna happen just don’t know when. We spend so much time in Ocala that we got a little 1 bedroom apartment there for the 5 years ago so we didn’t have to deal with hotels and could bring the dog with us. Funny we go there most weekends and holidays and I’m just as bored there as I am at home but in 1/3 the space. I think the perfect place for me would be 4 car garage with some sort of house attached, on a golf course in a 55+ gated community. My wife doesn’t see it that way, she says she wants land, no backyard neighbors and doesn’t what to be surrounded by old people to which I’ve replied “look around you dear, we’re f-ing OLD!” No doubt we’ll compromise as we’ve learned to do over the years and do exactly whatever she wants. As long as I get my garage.

I’ve had my 1st gen Taco for about 2-1/2 years now and it’s kinda my hobby just keeping it spotless and running in top form. Hard to explain why I have it, I certainly don’t need a truck but it makes me smile every time I walk past it in the garage or take out for a grocery run. My wife hates the Taco, she has convinced herself it’s a screaming red POS death trap but she begrudgingly puts up with it. I keep telling her it has all the modern safety features like ABS and airbags but she’s not buying it. Once I made up my mind that I wanted a 1st gen Taco it took me over a year of searching before I found my baby. All original, garage kept and at the time, 92k on the clock. I'm still part of the working rat race but counting the single digit years now. I've been working on my garage here the last few weekends when I don't have to work Saturday. Today was burn up all the old trim I pulled off to empty the utility trailer out in preparation for the tearoff of the roof. I have a lot of rotted wood to replace under the shingles.
But today I'm a porchie burning the old trim.
    20210919_132053.jpg
I've got a lot of work to do on the garage yet before winter hits. I took a day off next week so I will have a three day weekend to work on the roof tearoff and prep. I'll just tarp it off between workdays.

Kids made it over yesterday, wo with all five of to tackle the job, the Pergola has a roof!

Original forecast called for rain, but it held off. Over the years, biking, camping, and hiking I've always gone out with chance of rain. One of ten days I wished I hadn't, but have to admit those other nine times I have had a great time. Even the bad day made me appreciate those nice days that much better.

I have had several death traps over the years so could be considered an expert -- I'm sorry yours doesn't qualify.

    Very nice ride

    Good morning everyone!

Lynn and I ventured into the apiary yesterday to do a basic check - we have 3 active hives - and to start mite treatments. You have to remove the supers - the boxes designed to collect honey - so we decided to see if we had enough both to take some for us and also to have enough to feed the bees for the winter. Ended up with what should yield us somewhere over 100lbs of honey. We moved the frames in supers into the garage and sealed them up. You can't get all of the bees off when your moving the frames from the hive super to a storage box so we need to let them sit for awhile until the residual bees die out - don't need angry bees flying around the house while we're trying to extract the honey.

    Today is grass cutting day!

    Be safe out there!!
