Was below the L at the bottom of the coolant tank. Was near full in the tank before. Was a slow leak last 2 weeks but got worse after driving the long distance to our camp site this weekend.

Got home alright after topping off, except that U joint is getting loud as hell, FML

Probably just have the shop do that too since it'll be there for the coolant leak already

Order what you need to get it right away.

Remember that fuel filter I ordered during lunch? Arrived the next day at Stephanie's house.

If I can source another OEM CV axle with good boots, I may replace both my CV axles so I can get the 2 I have on there now replaced under warranty.

Of my 3 OEM spares, only 1 has a good set of boots on both ends :anonymous:

I'm not sure on either account what the issue is though, hopefully they can get that done tomorrow or early next week at the shop though so I can cross those off. Then get the other stuff done at our mod day next Sunday.

You wanting to do the fuel filter over here? Should be the easiest thing we do lol.

Ah ok, so you got a shop in mind already.

Yeah I'll do the fuel filter there as we can just use whatever catch can for fluids for any fuel loss as well. I'll need to look for my line wrenches but I'm sure I can easily find them in my storage.

So really just, fuel filter, cv axle seal and cv axle, and if time permits, my driver side cv axle.

What all do we need to do on yours?

Hell, maybe @GHOST SHIP can pay a visit :p

CV seal for me but my biggest wish list item is my driver's side lower control arm (swap it with the T4R one). I figure that can't take too long but would need to swap the bushings onto it too

If the CV axle seal is the same side, why not knock out the LCA at the same time?

If not, I bet we can get to it at some point.

Don't forget to undo the steering rack bolts 1st. They will drive you nuts if you don't.

    Opposite sides unfortunately

I would rather skip my CV seal and make my LCA the priority for my truck since you've got experience doing that. The CV seal I can do later if we have time or another day

We'll def get yours done though

Like @Tour991 said, loosen the bolts.

I only had to loosen them slightly (one more than the other) on the Tacoma to yank out the bolts so I don't know how much different it'd be on a 4x4?

I’ll let you guys know. I have to go to AZ to pick up my exhaust. But if I don’t go, I’ll swing by for a bit.

This and just the sheer amount of time it takes to unbolt everything, press out, press in, and shove back into place. But yes the adaptation for the ES bushings I think doubled the time at least. (5->10hours; counting short breaks and trip to Oreilys).

I did flip the other alignment bolt this time though so I'll never need to take the steering rack out again unless it fails.

The problem is once you push the pair of bushings out (with sleeves - mine at least out out with) you have to detach the side rings first, which meant I had to punch them out first somehow on the OEM side (had Moog on the other, which as a smaller ring and can go right through). Then you press the rest through using a torch to soften it. Then you burn the crap out of it to get most of the rest of the rubber off. Then when there's still rubber left on it you sit there holding it with pliers while you chisel away at it trying not to burn yourself. THEN you can attempt to press the new bushings into the old sleeve, hoping you have a retaining sleeve that will fit on the back to receive it. Then you press the old center section in (with one ring still attached), again with the receiving sleeve. Then you press that whole assembly into the LCA. Then if you managed to not completely destroy the end of the center section you press the other ring on. Then you repeat for the 2nd one. Then you hope everything is tight enough to actually fit back in the truck sockets (which it did not, in which case you sit there with a hammer dolling out swears for a while). (then repeat all of the above for the 2nd arm.)
And "press" here is a loose term for one-handedly holding a 10 lb LCA in one hand and trying to align it straight inside a bench vice, while your other hand rotates the clamp.

Well I’m glad I went with bushings that didn’t reuse the sleeve then haha

And their official quote on why they do it is "we found that most people wouldn't pay for the increased cost of providing new hardware" or something along those lines.
