In my opinion, you are 100% better off doing the work yourself. There are lots of good write ups on here and tons of YouTube videos out there. Swapping suspension components on these trucks is really easy. If you don’t have tools, buy some and you’ll still spend less than paying a shop.

Absolutely this. If I didn't have a kid and limited time for my own projects I'd love to help, but I learned a ton by doing it myself. It kinda comes with the territory once you start wheeling anyway. That is of course unless you own a gladiator and pay Globex to do all your work for you, then when shit hits the fan you can pay out the ass for AAA to save you.

nah dude I was jabbing all three of you equally, but again not seriously, this is an off-road forum after all. We ball bust. Just poor timing on my part is all. I know I can be a fucking dick but I’m not heartless.

Yea, I was considering it. Worked on my old Silverado all the time. Spent most of the time looking for 13mm socket… I was a little hesitant at first since this was the first time I was able to afford a new car but I guess there’s no good reasoning behind that.

most of us didn’t know how to work on Tacomas until we bought Tacomas and started figuring out how to work on them :D

You can do pretty much any job on these trucks with 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 35mm. Just be safe and use jack stands.

If you ever have any questions, anyone in this thread will be happy to give advice.

you said you’re in Monmouth county? Where abouts?

when you decide what you wanna do let me know. These trucks are some of the easiest to work on. My first lift I ever did was done on jackstands in the street at one of the many places I lived.

How is IBSP? I was thinking about getting into surf fishing (all I do is freshwater) and getting a pass for next year but it is a hour 45 hike. What time is best to get there?

Used to be a regular about a decade ago for fall stripers. Just talked to my brother today about getting a trip planned . Would love to get back there on a regular schedule again. Simpler times.

I’m trying to convince a few friends myself. I’m seeing there’s no camping around the area which kind of rules out overnights

As long as someone in the party is awake with a line in the water, they used to leave you alone. Never had a full blown tent, but we used to sleep at our setup late in the night in comfy reclining beach chairs

Just get a local beach pass if you want to try it out. Much cheaper. Lavalette is like $20. Seaside Heights is $15. Brick is about the same.

I’ve done a little bit surf fishing and did enjoy it. The appeal to IBSP was that I could pull the truck up with all my stuff right there and fish with my girlfriend and dog for the day.
