Tire Inflator/Compressor Help - Help Me Choose

So I'm looking at buying a tire inflator/compressor to put into my Tacoma and I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. They are:

I really don't go off-roading and this will be a backup in case I think I need to air down and back up or if I need to plug a tire and refill it. Thoughts?

I will say if you plan to get bigger tires than stock and air up/down frequently for off roading I would stay away from any compressor that runs of a 12v plug. I blew a fuse last time I tried to air back up. I also ignored the cool down instructions for the compressor because I was being impatient.

I ended up getting this because it works off of our bed plugs, a power drill battery, or the 12v lighter. It is on the pricier side though at $79.

 

I went the corded/battery route Dewalt . Great for me because I am running stock tires and I have tons of batteries for my camping/work lights. I am lazy so its easy.

 

I bought the Harbor Freight one because it fits in the storage bin, it’s inexpensive and it works.

 

Curious if you know how long it takes to inflate a tire from 12-15# back up to 30-35#?

I have a combo system in a nice case given to me by the folks at Slime Products and it takes a bit less than 3 minutes. Not sure how that compares to the others of similar function.

+1 for the Dewalt. I mainly use my smittybilt for offroading because it works so quickly, but I use the Dewalt inflator for topping off tire pressures at home if I have to just because it's easy. I wouldn't use it for offroading, but for what you want I'd say go for it if you're already invested in their batteries. The best thing about the Dewalt is that you can set the pressure and walk away. It will turn itself off when it gets to whatever pressure you set.

 

The Dewalt is the one I have. Works as intended.

 

I just bought the

$241 ViAir 400p - 40043 Portable Compressor Kit. Tire Pump, Truck/SUV Tire Inflator, For Up to 35" Tires

ViAir 400p Auto not that long ago and it's well worth it with my dual tire inflation system from @Shellshock

 

They are corded/cordless. May not be the best option for you.

Never timed it but it ain’t fast for sure.

 

Certain HF items should be avoided and in my opinion I would avoid their air pump.

The Viair has good reviews so between the two you listed, I would go Viair.

 

I don't have a link, but I bought a 2 cylinder model through EBay for about the HF price. Works well.

viair 88p is a great compressor for the money! Works great for airing up my 33s

I know a few guys using the 88p and no complaints. I use a 300p and love it.

Trying to find an attachment that will screw on to the actual hose vs cutting it and adding attachments. Would like something like these but cant find anything compatible besides the 1/4’’ NPT. What are you using for an attached gauge and inflator? I just received the

They are both entry level units and not going to be super reliable. If you don't plan on relying on it in dire situations then either will be ok. Both are made out of plastic and aren't built to last.

I also like the Dewalt because it uses the same batteries and the power tools. My dually had to be aired down in the sand and the Dewalt got me up to 60psi and I was able to drive to the gas station to finish airing up.
