Start with some more pics of how and where it’s all welded to the housing. If there’s not enough weld area then adding gussets would be a good option for increasing that. But so far the one pic you posted does not show much

The box they sent says '12-2015. I'm moving from the Volant to the afe, ill have to check storage to see if I still have the original intake and bracket

Is that smog pump another deleteable item like the SAIS, or is it a part of it? Wouldn't mind losing it if it's not doing any appreciable good.

It’s part of it, can definitely be deleted.

Why the switch from Volant to AFE? Just curious as I have the Volant.

Hmm, I'm still gonna call about the bracket but may delete it soon also. Side by side AFE you can tell was engineered a little better, better airflow and large air scoop. Will take some side by side pics tomorrow

You may be able to order one from O'Reilly, Vatozone, or Napa. I hate dealing with them sometimes, but the parts they distribute are genuine and there would be no question mark about it.

20210919_213925.jpgIn addition to the tubes that run around the engine, this is everything that a SAIS delete removes. For off road uses, obviously.

AFE vs Volant. Literally everything about AFE is better. From the design, engineering, and parts. Larger, better designed air filter. Fewer rubber sleeve connectors and better band clamps. Large, better designed front air scoop.

Just the wait time for the afe has been atrocious

One thing to note is that the AFE front scoop, when installed, completely covers access to the radiator cap.

Also found my original smog pump bracket. But it doesn't line up with the new airbox. Called AFE about the missing bracket and they said I had to fill out a ticket online, they couldn't help me over the phone....I'm ordering up the block off plates today.

The intake to fender seal is pretty tight with the included rubber gasket. Definitely no where near sealed with the Volant since it just has a smaller tube that runs inside of the fenders hole

take no offense but I think its a silly intake. its seal is dependent on how well the stripping is holding up on the cowl and if its compromised when your in a rainstorm or a big splash can have a greater possibility of sucking in water than a stock intake or a afe one. having had some water come into my cab from a new windshield installed and needed a new cowl i think its a valid concern.
