I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. About a week after I bought it I got new rims. I think it was around then when I started hearing this noise. Everytime I turn/break hard it sounds like a golf ball rolling under the passenger side rear seat. It is very annoying and I’ve looked around and can’t find anything that may be the issue. If anyone has any ideas or had a similar experience please let me know. I tried taking it in to 2 Toyota dealers (after calling) when I arrived they told me it would have to be looked at in a week.

horrible video but you can sort of hear it here. This one was a more dramatic turn so it doesn’t sound as much like a roll as it normally does

I would suggest uploading it to youtube and make the video unlisted so not everyone on the web has access to it.

Whats the wheel offset and tire size? Do you have a lift? and does this happen when you turn in reverse?

Are the tires rubbing up against the upper control arms?

Yes, it was the clunk sound. Really? I haven’t checked on the seat itself.

Did you hit a bump when the sound was or was it during braking? One of my toyotas the seat would move/ wasnt locking in place. I think i moved it all the way back. Locked it in.

I have the same thing going on. 2022 Double Cab. 2,700 miles on it. I read somewhere that something might have got loose from the tire jack kit and is rolling around under the plastic storage, metal on metal. Can anyone confirm there is a small piece that is supposed to be included in that jack sleeve?

Sounds like theres something rolling under the plastic seat storage bins. Take a flat head and pop all the clips loose/lift it up to see if theres anything.

Yeah, I want to. I'm a little worried to pop those clips. I tried one and it isn't coming up easily. I didn't know if there was a trick to it. You know how those clips are sometimes, you take them out and then they never fit right again.

I listened to video 5 times and I’m still unsure what noise you are referring to.

I have a brand new (less than 40 miles) '23 TRD Pro and get this same noise with changes in direction. I've systematically removed everything in the center console, glove box, rear storage, cup holders, small cubbies behind the rear seats....and still hear the noise.

For everyone else, the sound in the original video happens around the 4.5 second mark. Imagine a golf ball rolling in a groove/channel, then smacking a piece of plastic - but slightly muffled.

This happens most often with left/right direction changes, but also happens to a lesser extent under moderate braking/acceleration.

    Anyone else experience this?

I had a weird shifting clunk side to side day 1 after I bought my Tacoma. In my case it was the stack of owners manuals shifting back and forth in the glove box. Everything I have in the rear storage bins is in tight or has like a towel/rag around it to keep it firm.
