Sitting here waiting for OV tune to fix my key issue so I can flash this. Already bought the tunes. Bouncing off the walls in anticipation. Oh, and yes, I'm doing some rough performance comparisons, I'll post them here when it's done.

Depending on what tune you came from you may need to reset values.

Stock/OV2.0 no reset needed since they are stock or close enough to stock.
KD/others will typically need a reset since our map design is drastically different from their designs.

Don't forget to let the truck re-learn over the course of a few days. Drive it like normal without too much bat out of hell events haha.
    ---------------

Red line is 7k-7.2k depending on what gear ratio you have. With 5.29s, you can reach closer to 7.2k safely with Valley Runner.

The first few times you feel the power punch down low and rocket you towards 6k+, it can be startling. However, after you adjust to the tune it becomes easy to maintain the truck in this powerband with around 50-60% pedal.

What issue are you experiencing with VFTuner? Key related issues or software?

Mat is very good about fixing these pretty quick

What kind of knock numbers should we be seeing on the OL tune? I’m on 89 and I saw knock FB -3 to -5 and KCLV at 21.4 and stayed there for most of my commute

Your FB numbers should remain in range -3 is normal and the target, -5.25 is acceptable with further spikes allowed shortly after hard accelerations. You should never go above 0 into positive ranges.

    KCLV for regular should be around 20 +- 1. Mid grade roughly 21-22. Premium 22 +- 1.

Occasionally KCLV will raise or lower based on environmental conditions, driving style and engine demand for power, as well as fuel quality (I’ve noticed discrepancies between different brands of fuel on KCLV and FB values).

    ———

What you are experiencing is perfectly in range for the tune

I gotcha. I figured it was normal because it was still running good. Plus it was 100+ here today. I just remember a while back people were saying having klcv around 25 was ideal.

With premium and under certain environmental conditions, 25 is normal

So I was messing around today on my way home and I tried to log the dead pedal on the highway. This is what I got. I just gradually kept pushing the throttle (blue) to see how far I had to go before it should shift. You can see the RPM stay steady as the throttle position kept climbing (red). At 45% it finally down shifted to 4th. Not sure how accurate the log is but at least it’s interesting seeing it.

What kind of grade were you on? Climbing a hill or flat? Speed?

On some hills we experience this with a shift around 65-70% which is far outside the tune range. Other instances we can get a shift at 40% or so which is still slightly outside of range but closer.

It was a decent grade and pushing about 65mph. It felt like more than 45% so I’m not sure that’s accurate.

That log shows throttle sensor voltage in percent. Assuming 100% throttle sensor voltage would be a fully open (90°) throttle plate, it looks like it was less than half way open. I have no idea if the throttle sensor voltage/throttle angle relationship is linear or even relative. There is a different parameter for accelerator pedal angle/percent. Just FYI.

I gotcha, thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep messing around with the other parameters and see what happens.

They are gradually making their way through testers. Finalizing some changes and getting kinks worked out. Once 2016/2017 trucks have a good file, we will translate that over to 18/19/20/21s for final testing. Mostly these later model years will be functionality testing since the majority of bugs will be addressed with the 16/17s.

I saw there is now an ECU update for 2018 Tacomas. 04A62, may be old news but I just saw it a bit ago.
