Hey guys, I’m new to the Tacoma world and just found out about this forum. Looking to find guidance for the journey ima take with my Tacoma, I live in Laredo tx so I chose here being that San Antonio is very close. I have a sr5 but I want to swap hoods to the scoop one but my dealer told me the scoop is a separate 3 piece assembly, anyone know where I can get that 3 piece assembly other than the dealer? Thanks guys

    Morning Kevin
Morning Danny - Have a great weekend
Morning Mark - not if it's Friday!
    Morning Scott!

:pccoffee: Good Morning SA! Well, yesterday didn't come close to the basic plan; dropped LBR off, then came home and wife and I were clearing overgrown Cardinal vine off the Yew and gate in front before it got too hot. It got hot anyway. I wiped my brow and thought I got something in my eye, so I went in and rinsed my eye out. The pain came back, and when we got done, a ton of allergy eyedrops, red and swollen. I looked it up later, and discovered all parts of the vine are toxic (and can be hallucinogen!) to people and pets. Now, clearing these vines is an annual event, so from now on, gloves it is. Eye is still fighting back this morning. Freezer will wait another week, because the trash is out.

Still waiting on promised Amazon nuts and bolts I can't get here, that were delayed. Guess it will keep me out of the greenhouse until we drop a few degrees. Oh well.....

Lick the vine this evening, you might be on to something here, we all might need some cuttings for propagation.

If you do a search you can find aftermarket ones cheaper then oem ones. Welcome to the madness

Nice, Always had a soft spot for cement..... AutoZone sells hood scoops:rolleyes:.......,I kid I kid

Yeah maybe finding someone to swap with may be an option, other than that aftermarket might be your only choice.

Welcome to TW by the way :hattip:

I had a bad experience with the scoops I bought from them for my 98 Honda Civic dx years ago, the double sided tape recommended didn’t hold good enough when I was going 80 mph on the highway… I kid as well. Never had a 98 civic.

I think aftermarket will be my only choice ‍♂️ Oh well.

    thank you

Things. Stuff. Lots of bad decisions.
    Mostly Zip-Ties
The easiest thing to do is find someone looking to swap out their hood for one that doesn't have a scoop. Even if it's the wrong color, repainting it is the least expensive way to go. The scoop does come in multiple pieces. I actually ended up paying more for the scoop insert and it's bits and pieces than I did for the entire hood. You can find them at the dealership or, occasionally on eBay. Look for wrecked trucks with bent up hoods. As long as the scoop section is intact it should work fine and you might save a few bucks. I'm not so sure about the third gens but I was able to get creative with my Dremel and made my scoop functional.
