At least it has a rubber grommet for that intake tube. I'd still put a mesh over the intake tube. Some places sell those clamp on turbo screens.

Price wise, it seems high. Those 90's aren't cheap though. Not for quality.

Overall, not a keeper for me.

I like my cowl induction. I used 4" aluminum tube, and a 4" 90 degree adapter I got on Amazon warehouse deal, it has t-bolt clamps and a bellows to increase flexibility for engine movement. Was super on the cheap, I think I had under $50 in it total. Made a baffle to go in between the engine intake and the hvac intake. there is a whole thread somewhere on here for the cowl induction thing, many ways to skin that cat. but in the end I like not having a snorkel, I feel there is a lot of fresh air there to be had, you get all the noise cancelling benefits of the stock intake, you aren't sucking from the wheelwell after discarding fender liners, it doesn't rob air from HVAC that I can tell, and my IATs are the same as when I had a AFE intake (somewhere between 1 and 5 degrees above ambient).

Shit, that’s cool. I bought Toyota specific ones part # 25617-20010. They were kinda hard to come by because no one has them in stock, much cheaper too. Like 6-7 bucks a plate. Honestly though, if I knew I could order these , I just woulda ate that money and ordered them here to save me the grief of calling all those dealers.

I don't take any offense. But I think you are confused about the benefit and risks of an intake location. The goal is to not suck air from the super dirty fender, and also not suck air from any location that will be lower than the water line when fording, while not having a dorkel This accomplishes all of it IMO, and has the benefit of freeing up lots of space in the engine bay as well as keeping the stock intake sound reduction system. Water can and does get into the intake all the time with the engine running it is no issue. Just as long as the intake tube is not submerged where all the volume of incoming air is instead water.

Took a ride today. Good thing the F150 is too big and I’m away from my truck for a while to compare.

I did some experimentation, but I don't remember the details. Shortly after that I converted to electric.

That pump is for SAIS. I may be late to answer this.

    TRD Intake Question

    @12TRDTacoma

I am working on installing a TRD intake on my 2015, and am running into a small problem.

I have relocated the SAIS pump with the Flowmaster bracket. As part of this, I lengthened the wiring harness (it fit in stock length, but was rather tight). I also replaced the air hose with a 3/4" heater hose with a 90* bend. The factory hose had too many bends (near kinks) - this hose looks "factory".

The issue is with an A/C line. The right side of the air cleaner lower box wants to occupy the same space as one of the A/C lines. Obviously, I need to adjust the A/C line position. Can I safely bend/move the line while it is charged? Can I bend it without kinking it?

    Anyone done this?

You can slightly bend ac lines but they will kink at a certain point. How far does it need to go?

You can bend the lines. Just massage it over an expanse.

Just push it over when you install the box. It’s right but it will move. You need to remove the bracket in the middle to allow the flex. it doesn’t seem like it will fit but don’t give up it will. I can snap a photo later if it helps

    An inch or so.

Good to know. I will try that.

If you have a second, a picture would be great. You know, build up that confidence...

Thank you all for your answers. I assumed it could be bent, but wanted to be sure. I really don't want a face full of pressurized freon...

And to be clear I just pushed it. I didn’t bend it over say. Once you remove 1 or 2 brackets it has plenty of okay to move. Once installed you can put them back on with some effort.

    Makes sense.

So the A/C line is touching/resting on the air box?
