It’s a quick disconnect…it allows both sides to articulate as if they sway bar was removed…regardless of what your opinion of a disconnect is…the sway bar doesn’t have to disappear for it to be disconnected from the suspension…

If I remember correctly, the latest generation of 4runners has something akin to disconnectable sway bars, but I think they disconnect at the mounts instead of the end links. I wonder if this system is compatible to the tacomas.

I know the guy that makes them made some for the guys on the 4Runner forum and bunch of FJ peoples. Not sure about the current gen of 4Runner but it might be worth asking.

I think you're looking for what is called a "Sway Bar Eject."

I haven't seen many out there but I'm sure you could come up with something.

Ok, these are bad ass... thanks a ton for sharing! Plenty of Jeepers have quick disconnects like this. Actually makes disconnecting and connecting much more straight forward and easy. For someone who likes the extra articulation with them disconnected but requires the sway bar for on road driving (I tote around some precious cargo... an 8 and 4 year old)... these are perfect. @ZebraScissors, never have an issue with your CV joint getting touched? With the way that link has that flange at the bottom, it looks like it acts as a stopper. Pretty sweet!

You, sir, need to understand things before you post silly things like this. Jeeps use this style of disconnect and it's called a "quick disconnect". The goal here is to simply release the sway bar from the suspension... that's exactly what this does. If you want a sway bar "delete", just remove the damn sway bar.

    Yup... what he said.

Just keep in mind, you don’t get THAT much more articulation. Maybe a inch and a half.

At least that what about what I get with the Trd Pro fox coils.

It's just better for the comfort of unpaved roads. Articulation is actually a secondary benefit in my eyes. I like the reduced feed back at higher speeds.

I came from the Jeep world. Articulation for true wheeling is foremost. A tuned suspension will handle desert running safely, at least in my opinion.

Jeeps are sketchy death at high speeds on gravel roads haha. They need all the help they can get.

I went from an XJ to the Tacoma and was finally able to keep up with the higher speeds on the gravel roads.

Tacomas really can't compete with the new wranglers for offroading, you have to put in a lot of money to come close when it comes to real wheeling. But I'd take a tacoma anyday over a jeep for the offroading I do.

I'm not sure where you are getting an inch a half. The shaft the sway slides on is like 4-5 inches long. so you would get 4-5 inches more. You can literally see the difference by parking one wheel on a rock, or even your friendly neighborhood curb.

You don't get more articulation because people are installing bolt-on OEM replacement shocks which only provide 4-5" of travel. The shocks can cycle within that range with or without the sway bar, but without just slightly reduces body compliance. There is a big different between a sway bar on a 4-5" stroke coilover on an IFS truck and a sway bar on a solid axle with 14" stroke coilovers...
