Inferno Thread

Pismo Beach ?

So you can barely tell in this picture unless you look at the bottom left corner compared to the top right. But in person, it's getting noticeable that the plastic Inferno bumper is a lighter orange than the metal fender. Has anyone else seen this color change?

 

Inferno needs a steady solution of mud mixture to even out any color fade differentials between the plastic and metal.

I always understood red/orange to be a difficult color set to paint/maintain. Throw in different materials physical characteristics for manufacture/prep/paint and exposure to sun/UV and you've got some extra variables to contend with for a consistent lasting finish.
My red 1980 vw rabbit was religiously kept clean and waxed but also faded unevenly between panels.

 

Haha this was after a car wash due to the mud mixture

I wonder if the wax and/or new ceramic coating the car wash uses changes the way it reflects the color on the different materials.

 

Hadn't thought of the coating, interesting, but yeah that's possible. Chemistry is fun.
We have a bit of a chameleon of a color as it is, I'm always delightfully surprised how it changes characteristics depending on the weather/ sun/ shade/ rain.

mostly noticeable on metallic paints. This is the first time I've seen it look like this on Inferno.

Mine came like that from the factory with 6 miles on it. One of the woes of metallic paint like ours. That being said 95% of the front bumper is cut off and was replaced with an aluminum one.

 

Lol yeah. One of my favorite spots in all of WA. Catch food in Westport, play on the beach in Grayland and camp at twin harbor.

 

I finally got back into a Tacoma, sold my 2006 AC back in 2018, bought a new civic for the gas mileage because I was commuting 2-4hrs a day. Just traded it in for a 2016 SR5
