It is the outer diff bearing on drivers side, which is a needle type. The inner is a different type bearing and I have only heard of one person having an issue with that one.

You/they can replace it without taking out the diff, but have to take out the drivers side cv to get to it. Here is an explosion of
offending parts, just scroll down to post #34

I wondering about the aftermarket bearing too, I also am curious if anyone has tried a synthetic gear oil. It may dampen the vibes a bit.

This vibration is a know issue for toyota trucks with a lift kit that places the cv shafts in a position other than neutral. Whe the lift is installed it places an angular load on the cv joints and thus pulls down on the bushing in the diff housing and pulls out on the side gear inside the differential. If you have a lift kit and the diff has been replaced by your dealer, you will find the vibration comes back within six months to a year. The diffs are being updated to correct this issue. However trucks with lifts will wear out these parts again. Stock trucks will unlikely suffer the same fate. These issues do not effect older trucks and 4runners that had unlocking hubs.
Both axles spin, when the truck is rolling. They are splined to the hubs. The drivers side axle is splined into the side gear within the differential, the passenger side axle is splined to gear that is engaged when the vehicle is placed in 4wd

I just got my truck back, and after my dealer rebuilt my front diff. the noise is still there. So there ganna go ahead and open a case with toyota and call me next to see whats ganna be done. But the tech said the next thing he would try is the wheel bearing.

I think it also be a god isea to replace the axle also, bc my vibe is still there after the dealer swapped the bearing. Im ganna try to get them to swap the axle next.
