A friend bought this 3 years ago and brags about it every time we go camping...lol. Can't go wrong with military surplus.

The link is for reference, don't know if that's the best place to buy...

Believe that bag is just about as big as my 2-3 season. Price isn’t terrible.

there is a army surplus place that you may be able to find that @Windigo
    Armyissue in port credit.

Thanks guys I've have personally seen a friend freeze in an army sleeping bag. So much so that he came knocking on my tent to get my truck keys to run the truck and sleep in there. I'm not saying it was the equiipiment but not a fan of anything government has to buy in bulk. Thank you though.

it's the pick "2 out of 3" scenario. weight, cost, and rating.

I've been looking at sleeping bags and quilts recently and i've narrowed it down to 2 bags.

first is the same as @Tacocomamama with the CF Forces 4 season. However the surplus stuff as been around since the 70s and is mostly goose down so it's fairly light weight but it's also most likely well used.
    and
    second is this; https://www.sail.ca/en/the-north-face-dolomite-one-sleeping-bag-regular-adult-964650-19-083990001

Army issued or military grade usually means it’s the lowest bidder that got the deal haha.

    I use this: https://klymit.com/products/ksb-20-sleeping-bag-l?variant=31778694791258

You can generally get it at sail for under $200. I've used it into minus double digits with proper layering. Just remember that the degree ratings manufacturers provide are generally emergency ratings. So you won't necessarily die at that temperature but the comfort rating is the realistic temp to use it at

I'm already part of OF4WD, admittedly just forgot that I am. And yeah, I'm just useless at using gaia. I seem to be the only 18 year old in the world who can't figure out apps

if this ol' man can figure it our so can you. between google maps, gaia, gpx viewer pro and now quadON I've learned that the more tools for navigation you have the better at navigation you'll be.

The CF sleep system works quite well,
but people don't use them right... or don't know the "tricks" to them...

    There are 3 "bags",

"Fluff" the 2 main bags first to make sure the down filling is not clumped.

If you want to use it below -10/-15 C there is a "hood" that you put on first.
Covers your head, neck and collar area.
Even has uncomfortable elastic bands on it that go under your arms so it does not fall off.

    The two main down filled bags;
point the zipper on the outer bag on one side (RH), and the openings on the inner bag on the opposite side(LH).
It's amazing but if you line up the zippers (like everyone does because they think it makes it easier to get in and out) you WILL freeze your nuts off (well on one side anyways)

Below -10 then you add the 3rd "bag" which is more of a liner.
If you get a full surplus "kit" if the inner thin cotton liner bag is with it, toss that out, get a nylon blend blanket about the same size and use that.
The nylon also helps with wicking moisture away from your body while you sleep, and makes a HUGE difference.
Your pants and shirt for the next day go between the outer and inner bags, adds insulation and your not trying to shimmy into frozen clothes in the morning.

Then just use a regular air mattress. Or a tarp with some paracord to make a hammock.

If your not in a tent and it is windy/snowy wrap yourself in a waterproof tarp/plastic with the opening away from the wind direction. To stop the ice buildup on the bag when you sleep.

Also a good idea to spray the outer bag with water repellent spray, if the down insulation gets wet it is NFG.

Following those tricks will keep you comfy to -25/ -30 , (but keep your face inside the bag).
for -40 or for Nancy's, add another inner (#2) bag.

Commercial/civilian cold weather bags are a little more "goof proof" but to get something as comparable as the military ones you are talking well over $800.

Mind you if your not hiking with it. Size and weight is not important....
Why not just stuff 2 or 3 cheap sleeping bags inside each other?

This rig parked beside me at the store this morning.

Big ass FORD with California plates. I guess it’s some sort of overlander/camper? Had a really nice diesel purr to the engine.

Seems like a guy could live in there and go on a road trip all year!

    Overlander points for sure…

We spoke in Vmuts about sleeping bags and I did recommend the one I have because it is super warm. Though, I got it as a gift and just found out how much it costs...

    Holy fuck

Does anyone know if front and rear window motors are swappable? I got a old clapped out highlander with 450k km and the driver window is stuck down... I know it's the motor... all those years of smoking while driving wore out the motor...lol
