    Hi
I’m new to the group. I have a 2014 tacoma. I brought it to the shop for some noise in the front end. I’m told I need ball joints tie rods and control arms on both sides! I only have 64000 miles and I don’t go off roading. Does this make any sense. Seems crazy to me!

Take it to another shop. unless you live in the rust belt thats very unusual.

I live in New Jersey so the winters can create some salt usage.

NJ or not that is crazy to need all that at 64K miles. Are you having a specific problem with the front end or did they just try and upsell you while getting an oil change or something else?

Take it somewhere else. They are taking advantage of you.

Can you post some pics of the front suspension? I would like to see how they came to that conclusion but your initial instincts are correct.

salt is not the only thing that can ruin a front end

incorrect out of aligned high front end lift

big woooly boooga tyres on out of aligned front end

lots of high speed driving asphalt with front end out

ALL wear the front end PREmaturely

This shop is trying to take advantage of you.

We use hella amount of road salt around here as well.

It is extremely unusual for a Tacoma to need any of those parts before 100,000 miles.

Please go somewhere else for a second opinion.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks

Sounds like some big box franchise shenanigans, like Firestone or Midas............

Regardless, I'll pile on with the folks ahead of me. Find another shop.

find a REAL 4X4 shop that works on trucks + 4x4s

the convenience of the ‘ car ‘ shops should NOT outweigh competence

offsets........big tires...... shox.......further mods cancel out the conventional alignments

making it alll but impossible to align a direct result ..........lack of expertise / experience

the selection + price is all wrong

I have an extended warranty but not thru Toyota. They sent a third party inspector out who agreed with most of what they said. They are covering it all. I’ve been driving Tacoma’s since 1989 and never had this issue but it’s covered and hopefully don’t ever have to worry abt this again. Thank you everyone for your input.

I'm so spoiled living in a low rust state. My 2013 is near perfect at 105k
