Anyone know where to buy silicone radiator hoses for Taco Prerunner V6?

Checked and none of auto parts have them or Rockauto, or Andys auto sport.

    Why?

Most liquid cooled engines the coolant temperature is about 195*-205*. The basic black rubber radiator hose will last a very very long time.

Of course, the high $$ silicone bright color hoses will get more "bro points".

They really do look cool, though. It's like the TRD oil cap...just for looks really.

Most radiator hoses are made of polyester (or similar) fiber-reinforced EPDM. Perfectly suitable for any car. Silicon hoses are just for the "cool" factor.

    That being said, probably eBay.

HPS silicone hoses are good up to -65 to 350 F max.

Gates hoses from auto parts store are 20-30 each for upper and lower etc and have these specs

    Temperature Rating: -40 F to 275 F (-40 C to 135 C) in coolant hose applications.

So while silicone defiantly more durable it does not seem rise to level of being worth 100+ doll hairs.

My only real concern is that my taco is an 07 and hoses are probably original from factory. How long might they take til they need replacement.

You'll get 15+ years out of them unless there has been oil leaking on them. Just replace with OEM, unless you have a large budget or are thinking of further upgrades where silicone hoses might be worth your while. Easy way to tell is just to remove the top hose and give it a squeeze, check insides to see if any cracking or dry rotting. Personally, I'd run the OEM ones from initial install until one fails, then start replacing them. Of course, keep an eye on them at regular maintenance intervals.

My 07’ is still on OE hoses. I have almost 149k on it.
TBH, I don’t see me replacing them until they look like they need to be replaced.
Or they blow out. Which, is possible. But……. I am not always on t of my preventative maintenance either:eek:

I’m good on oil changes and stuff. But the more involved the PM gets, the less likely I am to “get to it”.
