Incorrect. As of 7/2 (end of Q2) the F series had sold 50k more than RAM which was ahead of Chevrolet. Yes if you combined GMC and Chevrolet it would be more than Ford but they don't because they're different brands even if they're the same parent company. The Tacoma was actually ahead of the Sierra.

You have a custom size garage… I guess parking on driveway though sucks in the morning with that ocean humidity surface on the truck it’s like I have to wash it everyday

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet. That driver's side grab handle is a thing of beauty.

This is soooooo much better than the other picture. This matches the styling of the TLC and looks very smooth and unified. The other picture....oof, be doing too much in too many directions.

As a previous Tundra owner and current Taco owner living in the rust belt, composite beds are awesome. GM has had a composite bed option since 2019 in the full size trucks. I think they are hard to beat.

Free climate control for the battery when in operation and its not like anybody is losing anything that they had before.

How? It has more HP and torque. New doesn't always mean better. You don't see recalls from Toyota about radio knob electronic gear selectors malfunctioning because our trucks, and most Toyotas in general, all still use mechanical gear selection. Toyota and Honda were the only two manufacturers that didn't have a tailgate recall in the last 18 months, most of which were remote release malfunctions. I think Toyota being a more conservative tech company and sticking to to works is a factor a lot of us consider when making a big $$ purchase.

Toyota owns Hino trucks (mostly). They have been making medium duty 19.5k GVWR hybrid trucks since the early 2000s and built their first hybrid diesel in 1989. Proven. They had built 10,000 of them in 2010.

The lithium cells are lighter but NiMH cells are more power dense. So depending on application you could need a lot more lithium cells to have the same energy storage, like 30-60% more battery physical volume which would equate to roughly the same weight. A lot of standby power systems I've been around in power gen industry are NiMH because of power density, reliability, and predictability. Cell phones and small devices lithium is the way to go and power tools to get the energy dump to power big torque motors, but depending on how a hybrid system is designed to function, lithium could be a negative in performance and longevity just to accomplish marketing hype. Trying to find sources to reference...

    https://www.epectec.com/batteries/lithium-vs-nimh-battery-packs.html

"Lithium cells are lighter and smaller than Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells, however lithium cells only have an average of 1500mAh compared to the 2200 mAH average of NiMH cells. NiMH cells are half the price of lithium."

    https://www.torquenews.com/6626/why...ithium-ion-and-nickel-metal-hydride-batteries

"Nickel batteries can withstand harsher temperature changes. Therefore, this hybrid battery choice is ideal for colder climates where snow and ice and frigid temps are more prevalent. One potential pitfall for Lithium-ion battery is that it does not last as long as NiMH in extremely high temperatures. Maybe I am talking about you Arizona. It is smaller and lighter than its NiMH counterpart. Although both can hold and store a similar level of power, the Lithium-ion battery is able to charge and discharge quicker. Toyota extended hybrid battery warranty that covers your hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles."

I agree, not a fan but function>form for me. Its like the Civic Type-R, it looks ridiculous, but it has wind tunnel tested aero and is a off the showroom floor 170mph fwd car, so I'll cut them some slack. Below is a quick chart on radiator core volumes with associated hp/tq of various trucks/suv's. Toyota's have always been overbuilt for their "intended" applications, which is one of the reasons we like them. When was the last time you heard of a Toyota over heating in any situation? I don't ever recall hearing of one. Go to a Ford forum and some towing threads on TW and you see people complaining of the Ford EB trucks overheating while towing. The core size of a nearly 500ftlbs twin turbo v6 is smaller than a 4.0L 4runner. Our 3rd gen Taco's have almost a liter of core volume over a 351 in^2 small block Ford.

    upload_2021-9-22_16-50-26.jpg

My guess is with the increase in power and Toyota's reputation of truck cooling capacity the new truck is going to be close to the 200 series LC at between 1000-1200 in^3 core volume(+38% to +65% over current). The electric motor probably has a coolant loop in the radiator, as well. Ideally, you'd want large surface area and thinner core to increase cooling efficiency. And we aren't considering the patent and diesel video which could maybe be space for a diesel/hybrid in the future.

I’d probably still have 3/4 of the tank left but I took it on 2 long drives the first few days. If your commutes are around 50 miles total then a full tank could last quite awhile.

California has some “clean cars for all” program for low income households that the Tundra might qualify for. Probably not likely since the MAX drivetrain is probably going to be an expensive option.

Toyota really over hyped how exciting the Prime is. This car is really really boring to drive. Only slightly more fun than my sisters Prius Prime. Quieter too since I can run on EV for much longer. But if a reliable car and not spending $5 a gallon excites you like it does me, then this car is the one for you.

Mine's gonna be a pavement princess. That said.. it's faster than the RWD Mach-E and slightly slower than the FWD one.. :p And there's no chance of the roof coming off either.

I wonder what the actual price of a pro will cost. Chevy and Ford are coming out with some refresh trucks this year Silverado 6.2 v8 ZR2 and Ford with the lighting I know the Silverado ZR2 is going to be around 70,000 I just can’t see a Toyota pro going for 70,000 dollars. Also the Silverado ZR2 will have front and rear lockers. Thoughts

Same here. I’ll be moving in a couple years so I might lift it but till then I’ll be waiting for the GX550 or LX750. I came from a supercharged Lexus so my standards of fun might be on the high side. It does drive way better than my sisters Prius prime though. When the EV runs out in that it feels like it’s got as much torque as a bicycle.

I heard the pro was going to be around 70,000 which is ridiculous when Chevy and Ford are coming out with refresh trucks as well. The all new Silverado will host a new off-road truck called the ZR2 6.2 v8 with rear and front lockers and that will go for around 70,000. I sure hope I am wrong about the pro cost.

How could it not go for 70 when the comparable are, and the Tacoma prob is in the 50s. I don’t see it going for much lower than the mid to high 60s

Ha! The ride it's replacing is a 03 TDI Wagon with a bunch of mods .. Mind you since it /is/ AWD once the stock tires wear down I'll put some CC2s on it so we can take it on the ski days as well, but that's still technically plowed pavement...

I have owned a bunch of Fords, with the last one being a Fusion, and I will never own another one; their quality has severely gone downhill, and their Ecoboost engines, while nice on paper, will blow up at 100k. Chevy, I am just not interested as they can never figure out how to make a marginally good interior. I would pay 70k for a fully specced out Tundra. I would never bring it off the road so I am indifferent on the lockers. It would totally be a pavement queen for sure.
