Crank Hold

    This is probably a long shot but is there a mod to change the ignition to the "crank hold" feature like on older tundras? My dads Tundra has a feature where you just turn the starter once and then it cranks and starts on its own rather than holding the key to start. I know its pretty lazy but I love this feature on my dads truck.

    I think that is an ECU thing, not just a key or ignition feature itself. The trucks ECU has to know to hold the ignition until the engine turns over... Apparently possible for it has been done in many vehicles, but I will bet that it's more intensive than it sounds.

    The way it was explained to me was, Those were discontinued, as if someone is working on the vehicle, and only needs the starter "bumped", the engine would start. I heard it was dangerous for people working on the vehicles.

    The new Tundras still have the same feature as the old ones, I still catch myself just bumping the key on my Taco once in awhile...:D

    I am assuming that is how the touch button start vehicles start now a days... I would imagine that being more dangerous than the key no? Or is it a signal that the ignition gets? That being said, is the signal to continue to turn sent from the key or is it built into the ignition system itself???

    The push button start vehicles I have seen, You have to hold the button down until the engine starts.
