for any of you that have used woolwax, is the undercarriage as grimey as fluid film and the end of winter?

That’s what I use. It’s more waxy vs greasy after applied. I like it better than fluid film.

Looks like wool wax has a lot of lanolin which is natural. I was thinking of taking the same route, waiting to hear directly from corrosion technologies about the how my Rejex stuff is supposed to hold up first.. might get a few cans and the coat “difficult” direct path places.

Did you miss type? There is a huge difference from 2hi to 4lo. Did you mean 4 hi? 7 miles would take forever in 4lo.

FYI. An inverter clamped to a spare deep cycle will run an electric blanket on low for 2 nights.

No, I didn't mistype. Yes it took a while in 4lo. Now granted, the first 4 miles or so aren't much more than a normal dirt road so drive it like your normal dirt road. You can do the rest in 2 hi, but 4 lo will give you greater control, especially with the hills and large dips. With 2 hi it is still easily doable but you'll be using the brakes more and there is one spot you definitely will bottom out on if you don't control your speed well enough.

Cool! I'll have to see if I left enough time for a good long ride or if I just bring my hardtail and take a short ride here and there.

Roger that. Not something you have to worry about with me.

:puke: but fair. Yeah I don't know my stops yet but I usually try to find a store or something to stop at.

I'm just planning a trip to MI but I use wool wax - don't by @jpereira2 actually.

Definitely not though. Woolwax is a bit more waxy. The best thing you can do is tear down a Dusty dirt road right after it's applied.

Hmm. Interesting. I'll need more than 2 nights but that's something I could recharge off the truck during the day. I've been seeing a few of those too and am considering that too just one of those maaaaaasive battery bank things. Pop it in the bed and use the bed outlet to charge it all day, then use it at night for the blankies. Sell it off after the trip. Tbd and thanks for the suggestion. Will consider.

@GarlicFarts If you do bring your Mt Bike, the Sand Dunes ski trail on the eastern side of the Hiawatha NF is 7 miles of heaven! Its not advertised as a Mt Bike area, but its allowed until it snows and they groom it. I think this past year they started letting Fat Tire bikes ride in the snow. Also, they just installed a new bridge at Tahqamenon Falls. and I guess one more thing, if you want a nice hike, the Tahqa Trail near the DNR campground is amazing. You can start and go half way and turn around, and still not see everything. and since you'll be over near pictured rocks, the Chapel Falls Hiking trail is a LONG trail, about half a day, but well worth it. Hit up the visitor center in Munising for maps and stuff. Its the Parks service, not the Forest Service Ranger station that runs Pictured Rocks.

    Heck yeah, thank you!

I don't know that I'll have half of a day - the days are kind of shorter and I don't want to drive at night. Sure you can do it, but you miss seeing all the good bits because - it's dark. I went through the plains of Texas one night, kind of in the Texas hills area, anyway, I'm used to forests I guess. So, driving at night I just assumed it was a road through the woods. Camped out in McBride canyon, drove the same road the next morning like WTF this is like the intro to courage the cowardly dog. Blew my mind.

Anyway. Cool beans - I will add a lot of this to my trip plan, I think with the added stops and already relatively tight timeline, I won't be having time for the MTB but I might be able to drop in a couple small hikes here and there, especially for the dog too.

I didn't try Fluid Film but I went with Woolwax after hearing it is the same stuff just a bit thicker to resist washing off. I am pleased with it and still have quite a bit of it on my truck nearly a year later. Never even worried about high pressure car washes like they tell you to avoid with Fluid Film.

Hi Everybody I'm looking for a reliable mechanic in a sea of unreliable people here in Detroit. I just want to make sure my truck is in good hands. If any on has some recommendations they would be deeply appreciated!

What work are you looking for to get done? I live now since 2017 in the Ann Arbor area but honestly never used a shop before, beside a body shop which did good work but was a little pricy.

If you're near Utica, Wearmaster on Van Dyke. I know and trust the owner.

Anything in particular you're looking for? As far as dealerships, I have had good luck with Kool Toyota in Grand Rapids. We purchased our Tacoma and 4Runner both from Dunning Toyota in Ann Arbor. No experience with their service department though but they did exercise a lot of patience with us as we basically ran them through the ringer when purchasing our 4Runner. The Tacoma was just after the start of the COVID shut down so that was a whole different experience.

As far as other work, there are a few places I can recommend north of GR, but that's getting a bit too far away for you, I'm sure.
