ETA: Apparently Lockhart Basin stole the weights off my driver front...it was like a CH53 all the way home

    Oof.
Made it all the way to Hells Revenge fine. After that though, steering wheel way off while straight.

    Yikes!

Put the truck up on ramps for a quick inspection...definitely banged up, but not near as bad as I thought...armor did its job! Also ordered up what I need to prevent damage like @MR E30 suffered  Hopefully it isn't too expensive to fix.

Looking forward to a trip report. I’ve been focusing on off-roading in Colorado while passes are open this summer but planned to go to Moab to hit a bunch of trails this fall including Lockhart. I’ve done Poison Spider and Hells Revenge and want to pop it up a notch next go round

We ran into a group in moab that were doing the alpine loop and were in moab to hit some trails.
I'm not sure I'd believe the YouTube videos on Lockhart basion.

Lockhart is well. The pics still wont do it justice.
Put it this way, we did TotW the next day in like 3hrs. Because we were so just used to the crazy climbs and drop offs to deal with.

I was sort of going based on ratings from Trails Off-road (6/10 same as Top of the world or Poison spider etc), and others that rate it difficult. I assumed Lockhart is harder than Alpine Loop. Alpine Loop is really chill.

So Lockhart was harder than TOTW? or just longer and similarly hard?

The trails offroad video isnt even near accurate. Its not a simple 2 track with one hard section. Its been tore up badly from the monsoon season and more. The way to the river is a washed out 10ft deep or so.
I'd say what we ran into on Lockhart, sections were a lot worse than ToTW

I'll start spinning up the trip report for this epic adventure, though it may take a smidge longer than usual, as I wasn't the only one snapping photos this go around, and I want to incorporate @chrslefty and @PcBuilder14 photos into the trip report. I took ~1300 photos and I bet Brent topped out over 1600 or so, not sure about Chris. So we all have some work ahead of us!

It was an absolute blast, best expedition I've ever been a part of. Definitely hard on the trucks, but we all made it back in one piece.

First day back to work since the 9th...think I'd much rather do Lockhart Basin again than deal with some of these primadonna jackwagons...both ways

Be very glad you did this, and I strongly recommend FULL skids for anyone who offroads on any sort of technical terrain, as I just had the absolute hardest time getting my 4wd system functioning properly after breaking off the 4wd actuator.

It's better now, but that fragile plastic box needs to be well protected with how potentially expensive it is to fix if it breaks. Supposedly full tcase removal and teardown, which you can thankfully work around.

Now I can finally start typing up the trip report, as my mind is no longer preoccupied with this now fixed problem.
