If I had done this from the beginning it would make it more cost effective! It’s sweet! But rear bumper and suspension I have now would have to be changed etc.

Is there any update to their latch development we're aware of?

^^^^2nd! Coming into the winter season the freezing issue and being able to open from the inside will be a nice addition. @OffroadAlliance.com @Mike's Custom Toys

RSI is targeting January. Still no word on how much they will cost, ordering, etc. Once we find out, we'll let everyone know. But they did just confirm January.

Has RSI stated that it would be a warranty replacement or will current owners have to pay for the new latches?

Unlikely to be a warranty replacement. But we do not have cost/price information at this point.

    The seems inexpensive.

That makes a lot more sense.

For an entire bed replacement, not unreasonable.

That is good news, as I have been on the fence about getting this cap due to the freezing issue as about 6 months of the year here get into negative temps.
being able to open from the inside is also a big plus.

Agreed, this is a major concern going into winter and needing access into the cap. Hopefully between deicer and compressed air can keep the locks operational until an update is released and hopefully it’s not to pricey.

People have definitely had this issue, but I wonder how wide spread it is or maybe situation specific.

I am in the camp of not having had this problem, I spend a lot of time in snow and sub freezing temps.

I believe the issue is generally happening when the accumulation has a chance to thaw and re-freeze, thus preventing the mechanism from moving properly as ice forms behind the latch and it can’t depress.

I bought graphite last year in anticipation of the lock itself freezing in the key access but I wanted to see the problem first hand before addressing it….. never happened. Thankfully.

I wouldn’t let this issue prevent you from purchasing the topper if that’s the only concern. Still can’t open from the inside so that’s still an issue if you need that kind of access.

Well to be honest the other issue I have is we have a lot of road salt / calcium used during these months, so long term durability and finish is a concern as 304 stainless holds up well but I understand these are made of a different grade.

From rain/washing I notice a build up of water in the “cavity” behind the latch mechanism, this is the concern area of thawing and refreezing. Hopefully I won’t have the issue, but going from 700ft to 6000ft elevation for snowmobiling, the chance of thawing and refreezing is very real. All locks get graphite lube as preventative, both on the cap and vehicle so haven’t had sticky locks that some have reported. Definitely not a reason to not get a cap if your on the fence, but I’m still waiting to see the update and can understand why opening from the inside is important to some.

So you can sleep inside and lock your self in. I used to do this in my SnugTop back in the day. Very handy for quick naps on the road. I will be upgrading the locks as soon as they are available. At least the rears, maybe not the sides.

The only real thing I will miss about my LEER cap is the the carpeted headliner , remote single handle lock ( with inside unlatching )
and no rusting issues , which hopefully the RSI doesn't or wont have in my climate.

What would the price be for all three options collectively and when do you expect to have financing available? I am considering a swap as needed modular setep. Pickup/Flatbed during the week, cap on the weekends/apocalypse.

So excited, I ordered the EVOa Adventure last week and Off-road Alliance said it’s backed order till Jan 17, 2022. Today I received that the cap is available and will arrive on Tuesday of next week. The call representative Thomas, said reason for sudden change might be that they found a lot of them from a shipping container maybe or a distributor cancelled a large order. So there’s a lot available! If you’re in the market might want to check it out if you’re looking for one soon. EVOa Adventure 2016+ 5’ bed!
