Bottom of the third at ~50 minutes into game play.

Runner at second, 1 out, popped to shallow left center field, Caught. Out 2. Runner at second went to third, rounded third one step, 3rd base coach says go back to second, but he didn’t touch third on his way back to second. Ending the inning.

What’s confusing isn’t that he needs to retouch 3rd, it’s that the play is dead, then challenged for the out. I thought the defensive player had to challenge the call or tag him out to initiate a review.

I think the home plate ump made up for the out in the top of the 9th inning anyway…

Put some respect on Dusty's name, man! Can't think of many more deserving of being in the HOF that aren't. The only manager in MLB history to lead 5 different teams to the postseason. He also helped invent the high 5!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Astro's sympathizer, but Dusty managed my Giants for a while so I have a lot of respect for him. I was happy to see him come back to manage even if it was for the Astros*.

Dusty's also the guy that after he left, the teams won the WS. He's a hindrance, not a benefit to a team.

I wouldn’t go that far but he certainly had 5 shots and didn’t win once so no magic touch either. A good regular season manager that had 5 very good teams but came up empty. That’s not hof caliber coaching to me.

:anonymous: If ever there was a moment. It’s not as if they were using telephoto lenses to get closeups of it. If you’re going to use something banned in hs ball then you’d best take better care of it.

Updated: WINS NEEDED TIED TO WINNING % OF TOP CONTENDER FOR SECOND WC SPOT. Cardinals(.543) holding the top spot now projecting to 88 wins thanks to 11 straight wins.

Braves 79-70, 13 to play, 9-4 to reach 88 wins, extended their lead a bit in the NLE but it’s win the East or go home with a head to head series with the Phillies yet to play. I don’t know if they’ll even play all of the pp’d games.

    Cardinals 82-69, 11 to play, 6-5 to 88 have a magic number of 7.

    Reds 78-74, 10 to play, 10-0
    Phillies 78-74, 10 to play, 10-0
Padres 76-75, 11 to play, 11-0 plus help

The Padres are basically dead but with 4 against the Braves, 3 more against the Dodgers, and still 4 left against the Giants they still can affect the NL East and West races.

The Reds, Phillies, and Padres aren’t quite eliminated but need a monumental collapse by the Cardinals.

The Braves have 4 against the Padres and 3 against the Phillies whose best chance now is winning the East but even there need help.

The Cardinals have 5 more against the Brewers.

Giants lead back up to 2 games after a win and Dodgers loss.

I'm still holding on to my slim chance for the Mariners. They look good this past month, but they will probably miss out by a few games again. The AL West is a strong division this year. Year number 20 without a playoff appearance.:annoyed:

I'm sitting here going crazy as the Giants take the lead, then the pads take it right back w/ back to back jacks. Then the doyers tie it in the 9th and take it into extras. To say I'm going through a roller coaster of emotion right now would be an understatement..

*edit* as I posted this the Giants tie it back up
