Yes they are different. Cleaner is $5-6 per can. Much less if you catch a sale. One can lasts me years. I use the recommended (different) cleaners on the MAF and throttle body.

what toyota engineered / built essentially for evevry one

    everything

    all the time

the hype associated with accessory marketing moves stock off o shelves

tho some may actually last longer........................they may NOT spark with more energy

down a 1/2 step on on cylinder performance

I don’t know the make up content one to the other. I do know that they make one for each task. And I have heard Many say not to use the Throttlebody cleaner on the mass airflow sensor. It would be very beneficial for you if you have not cleaned a throttlebody before to watch a few videos. It’s not as it would seem to be. The procedure is much more than just unloading the can on the throttlebody brow etc. I know of a very good video I will link to this conversation later this evening when I return home if it would be helpful.

I already know that and already know how to clean both.

I think you meant to quote the op.

def want to make sure they are not too cold or hot. Lots of talk on this in the S/C thread. Most stick with the factory plugs on the non boosted engines. But that helped I swapped mine and they were toast. MAF got a good cleaning.

Also a couple other things could be PCV valve and even the fuel pump could need a swap.

You’re absolutely right, no insult intended. Most anybody that has seen me move around this forum knows that I have trouble turning on a PC let alone posting and navigating through all of the content with any sort of grace.

This is interesting, I went through something similar with a K&N filter on my Focus. I installed it and lost 2-4 mpg and had a catalytic code within a week. Switched back 8 weeks later everything was back to normal.

Thanks guys, removed and cleaned the throttle body yesterday. It wasn't really dirty but there was still some dirt in there to clean.

However, the MAF sensor definitely was pretty dirty on the one side!

Will report back the next time I'm on the highway to see of there's been an improvement.

    Cheers,

    Jay

I had an odd power loss feeling when on highway and at higher RPM's. I cleaned my MAF yesterday and everything's back to normal it seems.
I noticed that one side of the bulb part sticking down was dirty. Also make sure you cleaned the two smaller wires inside the tunnel area with the cleaner. I'm thinking those are more important to keep clean.

FWIW, I also found out the fuel filter is in the gas tank. It seems URD makes a kit to move it out.

There could be something to this. I actually spent many years serving the ceramic industry. While there I had the pleasure of working with Champion, Auto Light, and several others right on their R&D and production floor.

Oversimplifying the process but two of the most important factors in a plug are predictable conductivity and the life cycle of performing their task. I feel sure that anyone willing to make counterfeits are not expecting repeat customers and is not concerned with the quality of materials used in their offerings.

So on the surface, you might look into and consider the possibility. GOD HELP US!
