My Savage model 10 decided it wanted to try to kill the freshly mounted NV scope last night, after it fell off the bench it would extract the brass but not eject, so I’ll probably send it in to savage to be checked.

Holosun AEMS came in today, I’m excited to get my hands on one, not sure if I want to try the red or green option though.

Those of you who have force on force experience, is it possible to get simunitions or UTM’s as a standard civilian?
Several of my coworkers and myself have decided that in order to maximize training we want to be able to do force on force training, and unfortunately with the distributors that I checked at work we likely won’t be able to get stuff through the typical industry channels.

I have a question about stock finishing.

I am getting a new stock for a bolt-action I shoot in competition. It is a laminate, from Boyds Gunstocks.

They come with a lacquer finish, but I need to do some work on the stock, so will need to refinish it. I can get the stock unfinished, and finish the entire stock, or get it factory finished, and touch up the finish in the areas I work on it.

The main question is, do I use a spray-on finish (such as lacquer) or a hand-rubbbed oil finish? Does laminate absorb oil? I think it does, but with the glue holding the laminate together, will it be blotchy?

And, there is Watco Danish oil - poly and oil. I like using this on other projects, and think it could make a nice stock finish.

    Anyone have any personal experience/recommendations/ideas?

    Thanks.

Question for the other people that work at FFLs.

How often and how many trace requests are you getting? And does it feel like there are more lately?

Could just be me but I'm getting a lot more requests and it's seemingly an every Thursday or Friday phone call. And when I'm pulling them alot are ones I've already done. It's annoying.

Traces? Like tracing a serial number for a firearm used in a crime?

Bit late but I had some old coworkers who looked into that sort of stuff. They ended up passing on simunitions/UTMs/ect and went for airsoft. They only wanted to really train/practice CQB stuff so it seemed to work for them. Might be an option to consider at least

I just finished doing 11 and two were ones I already did.

Pretty much. Used in a crime or found where it shouldn't be and the ATF wants to figure out who bought it last from a FFL.
