Are there any mounting options to place any type of bracket between the bed wall and the bottom of a camper shell?

What I'm trying to do is have some way to mount rotopax or maybe a bike to the SIDE of my truck.

I have an RSI smartcap and my thinking is if I had like 1/4 inch plate then I could mount a bike rack or other accessories this way.

It's a stretch and I'm surprised there aren't more options here. Mounting my mountain bike to to the outside of my truck seems perfect.

I have a 6' bed so the idea of having a swing-out seems crazy.

    Thanks for the tag!

So as long as that cap doesn't overhang the bedside and the gap created by the mounts is filled it's possible for sure.

Here's a list of other cover combinations that work with the SideRide: https://squareonecreations.com/blogs/news/what-is-compatible-with-the-sideride-bike-mounts

I used this kind of bracket on my 2000 Ford Ranger (left, in the picture below). I couldn't do something similar on my 2021 Tacoma (right) because the Leer cap now overlaps the top of the bed. You would have to notch out the skirt of the cap, something I didn't want to do.

This looks awesome but I just bought and RSI smartcap which limits my options here.

Honestly, since it's steel, I'm thinking about just drilling my own mounting holes here and trying to setup something custom.
