Does anyone know the torque specs for the bolts that are used with the URD heavy flywheel ?

Any reason you wouldn’t use the factory specs?
After all, you’re still screwing them into the crankshaft?

Seriously, I don’t know the answer.
    But that’s my thought.

When I installed I used the factory specs. URD provided no instructions otherwise. Only thing that might be different is if you get an aftermarket clutch the pressure plate to flywheel bolts may be a slightly higher torque spec than stock. Make sure to use red loctite

The bolts that are supplied with the URD heavy flywheel are longer gr 10.9 bolts not stretch bolts like the OE ones.

I’m reusing this flywheel that I’ve had sitting for a couple years but don’t have any reference as to what the torque spec is for that bolt. Pic for reference

    OE flywheel bolt (top)
    ARP flywheel bolt (mid)
    URD heavy flywheel bolt (bottom)

I torqued to factory, with red loctite. I’ll let you know if/when the flywheel hurtles out of my bell housing

    What size is the bolt?
Not the head, but the threaded portion?

You might use a “standard” torque chart spec?

ok so the next question is, what Oe torque spec did you use? I have here two references for this torque value, one from the FSM shows 61 ft-lb, and another Toyota source provided by @BillDaCat8 showing 22 + 90 deg

I put mine in about a year and half ago and it hasn't flown off yet. BTW, I'd recommend you use some sach's grease on the clutch splines, it's some good stuff!

you don’t think red loc tite is excessive for this application? IIRC when I threw on ARP flywheel bolts on my last clutch job URD called out for blue loctite on those

I don't believe so, it's what's called for per the FSM. For critical things like flywheel bolt applications I'll stick with what ToMoCo recommends

What I’ve seen, both blue and red will keep it in place tight as long as the bolt and bolt hole are clean. When time to unscrew it, blue will usually come loose with extra effort. Red I use a soldering torch, you’ll see it start to bubble, then it comes right out.

Either way. Since we aren’t talking about using the OE hardware, I think the 22lbs then 90° should not be done.

If it were me, I’d go to 61 lbs in a couple of steps with these longer aftermarket bolts.

The OE bolts use a sealant on the first few threads. It’s not a loctite per-say. Although it will act like that to an extent. It’s actually there to keep engine oil from creeping up each bolt. The flywheel flange of the crankshaft is open on the opposite side to the crankcase. What I’m getting at is that blue loctite sounds a bit too thin here. Need to find thicker thread sealant.

interesting, I guess the copy of the FSM I have isn’t correct then.

thanks Jake I agree on going with the 61 ft on value for these non oe bolts. I was just trying to figure out why there was a discrepancy in OE torque value from 2 Toyota resources .

In the past I’ve ran this flywheel for a couple years with just blue loc tite, didn’t have any issues leaking oil. Maybe back then I was ignorant to the fact that the red stuff on the OE bolts is sealant and not thread locker. I’m going to try running a ring of some sealant in combination with some blue thread lock on the lower threads of the bolts.
