The HOA here is useful they maintain our perimeter fence to keep the jungle outside and take care of the landscaping.

 

A good landscaping company will do the same. I'm sure that's all they do is contract out a service and take a piece of that pie since they are the middle man. I like maintaining my own landscaping, nothing like splitting some wood or riding a lawnmower to clear your head.

 

In my neighborhood, they take care of the garbage and the lawn, and tell us what what kind of vehicles we can and can't park in our driveways...

 

so what's "not allowed"? Old jalopies or do they specify a vehicle manufacturer?

 

Derelict shitboxes, commercial vehicle, boats, campers...

 

Our lawn is about 100 square feet so not enough to be fun to mow. We have some trees I trim and toss the branches over the fence into the jungle no man's land. It's worth it to have a fence to keep the homeless criminals outside for the most part. The hoa contracts with the landscaper, they work hard, I've seen them sleeping in their truck, not my problem.

 

I guess if they don't beat you up too bad for the other stuff then might be worth it. For 100 square feet you could trim with a sickle weed cutter haha.

 

Down here we call those "lawn art"

 

The hoa has caused us no problems and the monthy fee is about the same as utilities in a ghetto apartment cost. All apartments are ghetto, it's like a motel but you aren't leaving in the morning.

 

I love my friend's place in Hamilton, WA on the flood plain. The house burned and they can't rebuild so they got a fleet of motor homes and trailers, it's totally redneck. It's awesome.

I recall a story where a guy built up an old Ford truck but kept a Patina body. It was a super nice truck but the HOA came after him hard, last l remember he filed a law suit against them.

 

Depends on wants/needs I suppose. My friend just bought a condo..single lady, knows nothing about how to do house stuff and doesn't want to know.

there’s a time and place for everything. It is nice for that type of folk but unfortunately those HOA fees can keep skyrocketing just as taxes do and you’ll be paying out the nose to have someone cut the grass and throw out the trash before you know it.

 

And an ass for every seat, so to say. For one without the knowhow, time, etc they are limited to rent or a condo and at least the condo still builds equity

 

Just brought my baby into the dealer for a final inspection and by the grace of god they actually found perforation!
