Somebody needs to tell the people driving these compensation beasts that all it does is make it obvious the driver is trying too hard.

Not a design I'll warm up to any time soon. I'm still not fond of the 3rd gen Tacoma aesthetically.

Remember how big and bold the front end of the new Dodge Ram looked back in 1993? I remember thinking....eww, not feeling it. Yet it became the norm. Contemporary truck styling will to in time.

And on the subject of new trucks....kudos to Ford for making the new F150 Lighting look fairly conventional....even with it's imposing front end. Just because a truck is all-electric doesn't mean it has to look like a 5 year was turned loose at the design table.

Guess I'm the only one thats more impressed with the transport truck.

Funny how this is in the 3rd gen Tacoma thread. All the same comments regarding how huge and ugly the 3rd gen front end was permeated TW all of 2016+.
It'll likely grow on people just as the Taco front clip did.

Just some info related to this https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-20-419.pdf

Seems like not necessarily regulated yet?, but definitely being studied and implemented, mentions 40% increase in deaths resulting from vehicles hitting peds. And shows grill and bumper design recs to help mitigate especially for larger vehicles. Which makes sense as increase in Truck/SUV sales related to this quote..." Increased risk of injuries based on vehicle size and weight. Research suggests that if a pedestrian is struck by a vehicle with greater mass the crash is more likely to result in serious injuries or a fatality than if the pedestrian is struck by a lower-mass vehicle."

It's funny, I probably would have bought a Tundra 1.5 years ago when I started shopping for a new truck but I couldn't get past the dated interior, so I bought my Taco.

With the new Tundra I'm not a fan of the exterior but with some custom touches (color match the center of the bumper, maybe add a grill with a contrasting color) it could work.

I'll be curious to see how the new engine in this new Tundra does after a year or two of real-world use. My long-term plan has always been to replace my aging Silverado (which handles most of my towing duties and long-distance driving) and my Taco with a new Tundra in a couple of years. If these new V6 engines prove to be solid that may still be the plan.

looks like they hired General motors exterior design team. I'm sure it will be a fine truck, but I think its ugly.

The front of the Tundra has got a Griswolds' station wagon vibe going for it. o_O

looks like pics were taken with a cell phone at roughly eye height, the ultra wide cell lenses and downward angled pic on those makes the front end overly exaggerated and weird, new tundras look good in real life imo.

I'm sure the 2022 Tundras will sell.

After all, other cars have sold.....like Pacer, Gremlin, Matador, Aztec, Insight, Ridgeline.......many others that were not so attractive.
