I have been through the forums and can't find this. Has anyone else ever heard of grounding the throttle control to the negative post on the battery to get rid of the lag.

Sure. In fact, ground all the things.

Those wacky designers should have, like, made the entire frame a ground path so that stuff can work better.

This is why I am asking. A good friend is telling me it will work and it sounds totally crazy. He is a Mazda guy and it works great on his car but I just can't bring myself to do it to my truck.

I work in electrical device design, this should not work. If it does work toyota needs to fire about a dozen people.

    Snake oil.

    Screenshot_20210924-154557_Acrobat for Samsung.jpg

    I'll just point the obvious:
    1. Why are the Mazda guys saying to use heavy gauge wire? There should not be THAT much current flow, if any at all. The fact they took this route shows how little they understand in my opinion.
    2. The M± signals (throttle actuator signals) above are shielded which prevents noise. The Mazda guys are claiming grounding the throttle body can fix noise, but that's not true. Shielding does.
    3. VCTA is input power for the throttle position sensor, VTA1 and VTA2 are the throttle position sensor signals (two for redundancy and error checking)
    4. E2 is ground...
I think we have a pretty good setup as is.

The intention with the thick gauge wire is probably for a lower resistance, not that it would matter.

I almost thought the same, but there would be a parallel path to ground/the negative battery terminal. That would significantly lower the resistance.

Find someone local that will do an ECU tune. Thats your best bang for the buck.

Another helpful Friday Tip - to make your key fob work over a longer distance, touch it to your nose and hold one hand high in the air as you press the button. This effectively makes your body a human antenna with a significant improvement in range.
