Hey there, on Tacoma #3, a 2016 Limited that I scored with 9,000 miles on it, under $40,000…

mid like to plywood the bed and top it with a rubber carpet mat…

I’m looking for numbers on a plywood topper that the carpet/rubber while be glued to.

thinking I’ll do the plywood in 3 sections and I was looking for anyone who had the dimensions to have the plywood cut at Lowe’s. I’m not good with cutting wood and I’d rather not screw it up. Anyone got the dimensions of a 5’ Tacoma bed they’d like to share? Thanks!!

You talking about the floor of the bed or like a tonneau cover?

What problem are you trying to solve with the plywood?

I was thinking the other day a piece of plywood over the gap of my tailgate would sure help me shove this couch in here right now.

I just bought the OEM Rubber Bed Mat and its super thick and heavy duty, I was actually surprised at how good the quality is for $70. Not sure you need Plywood underneath that.

Depending if regular plywood, and not treated, i'd think after a few years it'd rot, plus depending on thickness plywood is heavy. Get the toyota mat, or even a gator, you won't regret it.
Congrats on the the truck, but spending 40k on a 5 year old truck with even 1 mile imo, is crazy.

It’s expensive alright. I got my 21 DC 4x4 6 months ago for $42k-ish and I thought that was expensive. But there are no Tacoma left. My nearest dealer has no Tacoma, 4Runner, tundra, or sequoia on their lot. But if you need a car now, you gotta buy it lol.

I just paid $3K over MSRP for a new '21 TRD Pro .... I am not proud of it by any means but its better than no transportation, better than paying 5k or 10k above MSRP like I hear some people are doing. Even if you find a truck right now, majority of them are 4x2 why I won't buy as it defeats the purpose !

Word of warning, that rubber mat smells really bad....like rubber. Duh. I've had it in my cab with the toneau cover open the majority of time I've had it (bought the truck last October), and anything that's fabric/cloth I put back there absorbs the rubber smell.

No kidding, i've had my mat under my tonneau cover a year and a half....it still stinks like it was installed yesterday, and it way worse when its 100 degrees in there.

I found a well seasoned mat out of a 90's F-150 and cut it to fit. Free, no smell and works great. Even has 'Sport' embossed in it to match the truck.

I gotta believe when there's a glut of new tacoma's the resale value on your truck will be what they were before the shortage. Imo, paying over msrp is not going to do you any favors when it come's time to sell your truck.

Doesn't look like there is going to be a glut of any vehicles anytime soon, the chip shortage is going to continue well into 2023 and the Automobile manufacturers are never going back to having a glut of vehicles with large discounts on them. The business model has changed permanently.... produce less volume of vehicles, build to order, less labor cost and sell them at much higher margin without the rebates and discounts.

I totally agree with you. I don’t intend to resale mine anyway. Mine was about 3k over msrp but I’m happy with the purchase. The crazy thing is, one dealer offer me that price. I take that offer to every dealer within 60-70 miles to beat or match and none of them match. If it’s like 5k, I’ll think about it.

Unbelievable what a year and a half makes. I bought my truck just before all this covid bs broke out. Paid just under 3k less than msrp, and that was ordered.
