I think the only people that keep outdoor only cats are people with farms/ranches, but that's usually OK because on that kind of property they usually have places to hang out and hide during inclement weather. But an outdoor only cat in the city will soon figure out they'll have a comfier life elsewhere and you'll probably get dumped by them lol.

I saw this video where they put GPS trackers on neighborhood cats that spent a good amount of time outside, basically the cats all set up territories around their home base (house) and treated it like gang-land. They would spend all day walking the defined perimeter and chase off/beat the shit out of any other cats that came within it. It was pretty awesome

    Got dammit...

So I'll have to create sanctuary in our defined perimeter.

    Sounds like a plan.

I've seen this first hand with a couple of neighbors' outdoor/indoor cats. My house is right in no man's land

Oh they're definitely fun to watch.

I remember @eon_blue cat Harley interrupting several times for pets

Probably do the same thing this weekend. Then I come back home and Bronx is sniffing me like crazy, probably thinking "who the fuck have you been with"

yeah Harley is a total land whale, he can barely catch his own shadow. He's got a cuddly personality though so it's all good

If I needed a working cat I would basically get the opposite of him lol

When I was putting pavers in, I had a lot of sand in the front and a enough room to get under the gate. It was a clusterfuck of every cat within a half mile coming by to shit every night, and because they had a 2nd escape route they weren't afraid to come through the back and agitate the crap out of my indoor cat (she spends a lot of time at windows). Interestingly, as soon as I closed that second path and shot the dense ones with the hose a couple times, they stopped coming. Even the ones that used to scale the back wall don't anymore because my new gate is too tall for them to climb. Lesson of the story: if you have a cat problem, remove escape routes and make the ground too hard to dig in.

My grandpa kept a .22 by the upstairs toilet in his bedroom bathroom, so he could pluck off squirrels and other critters that would come into his garden while he was taking a dump

This of course was in Missouri
