I think I’d much rather wait till you get there (Pensacola area) and meet up! I know it’s taking away from your trip but if my boss was still interested in the tune, x2?

Is it normal to hear that pinging noise after the tune?
I did reset the ecu so I don’t know if that maybe the reason, I’m running the regular gas slt tip in tune.
I only have like 100 miles on the tune so maybe it’s still adjusting?
My truck sounds like a Diesel engine when idling :bananadead:

It is normal, some days my truck still sounds like a diesel.
Punch it and it will sound normal. Even on stock that noise is there.
Toyota says it is normal and part of the cleaning cycle.

Ok thank you. So next question then, is there a KDMAX dealer in the Phoenix metro area I can go to, so I can update my tune?

Hey guys, just got tuned with Alex here in Calgary.

My question is about the tips.
I see the different throttle settings, but I'm curious if that makes the start of the throttle angle curve more sensitive, or if it quite literally reduces the power of the truck by 10/20% in the first three gears.

A great way to frame my question is,

If I have the aggressive throttle, vs the SLT throttle, and I put my foot right to the floor at 100% throttle in 1st 2nd or 3rd, will they both have the same amount of power?

    Thanks guys. Great tune.

It only affects throttle sensitivity. No reduction in HP or performance.

Perfect that's what I was going for. I just didn't wanna lose power in those gears, but still be able to feather the throttle easier.

Awesome guys. Tune blew my mind btw. I probably won't regear for a long time now, if ever. Truck feels night and day better.

Chris ended up coming a bit further inland this weekend, and I popped out that way to get it done. It really is like driving a new truck, the get-up-and-go can't be understated!

Huge thanks to Chris for the upgrade!

Just flashed mine with the latest TSB and KDMax tune this afternoon. Regular/Regular settings. Already seems like it is going to be a lot more fun to drive. Thanks Paparee for all the support.

after a long awaited weekend to take the trailer, I finally got to tow with the KD Max tune. I am using the second tip in option down from the max ( I think).

It drove very well. On the way home I did have my TC oil hit 230 degrees in 3rd gear going up a large long grade (on OBD Fusion it is hitting “0” when temps climb). If someone could figure out how to make TC lock (switch to “1” in OBD fusion) when in 3rd with ECT after climbing for a bit it could really help keep temps down to around 210 or less I think. Someone help me gauge my theory.

Not sure if this is possible for ECT and ECT+S only…that’s where it matters…it was a good time though.

If you are amenable to pinning your tranny fluid t-stat open when towing, you won’t see those higher temps. I pin mine in May and when I put the camper away for the season I un-pin. Too cold here to leave it pinned for the winter. (I’m on KDMax SLT)

Tc locking S1 table is set to higher speeds to delay/ turnoff a partial tc locking.
