I recently became the owner of my 13 dclb and want to add a small lift to it. The truck is my daily driver and I don't often get a chance to do any off-roading except for the occasional state park/fire roads. I plan to go up from the stock tires to a 32 and that's where I plan to stay for a while. The lift I think I've settled on is Bilstein 5100s all around, OME 884 coils, and General Springs Heavy duty leafs(only because I broke a leaf on Baltimore's crappy roads). Even after all my combing through TW I cant find anyone with a similar setup is there a reason or do people just tend to shoot for a 2+ inch lift? Also if my plan sucks are there any other budget friendly options for a 1.5-2 inch lifts?

Blocks and spacers are cheap and reasonable for mall crawling. :anonymous:

True but, I would like actual capability though as I have to report to work under any weather conditions and plan to take more overland style trips in the future.

So speaking from experience my truck has had Billy 5100s All 4 corners, a 2" AAL from Wheelers off road and OME 886 springs. I've taken some pretty narlely trails on that set up with 265/75r16s. I've had the setup for over 5 years and it's just now starting to flatten the leaf springs in the rear. I don't run with a lot of weight in the back right now but load it up when I go camping. This is a great budget friendly set up that is still capable of running with the Icons and Kings. Won't be nearly as smooth a ride as the premium setup but for the price it's well worth it IMO. It's treated me well and I've never needed to leave my truck stranded cause she's stuck.

Welcome to the forum! And the Maryland thread :hattip:

Nothing wrong at all with your selection. If you really want to dial it in though, hit up Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road . She set me up a while back and I was completely satisfied.

Thanks Eric. Maizy is fitting right in. She's super affectionate, and very timid at the same time. She's vocal too, like a normal dog. Deb and I are spoiling her as well. :D

Definetly planning to hit up Headstrong just mainly concerned about the difference between 884s and 885s, and trying to not spend 2grand on a new set up.

What do you plan to do with your truck? Are you planning on adding a bumper or winch? If not you can go with the soft springs. I rode my 2012 with the stock front end with 886s as well with the plan of getting the bumper and winch before someone pulled out infront of me. It was a little on the bouncy side but I don't mind my truck handling like a truck. 885s sounds like a nice middle ground incase you feel like upgrading to a cut out bumper and winch in the future. Something like these:

IMHO you should consider your plans for the truck and build from there. Are you trying to go to offroad parks, or state parks. Are you going to be loaded up with family gear and food for a long weekend trip a few times a year? Or is this your grocery getter and gonna spend most it's time city driving. Once you can answer what you want out of your truck you can better decide how and what you want to sink into it. Search here and let the others guide you so you don't have to keep changing your gear out cause that's a black hole and some of us can't afford the trial and error way of building up our trucks.

So first and foremost it'll be a daily driver. But, it has to be a daily driver regardless of weather conditions due to my job. Secondly I do have plans to build it up with a hybrid bumper and a hard shell topper so maybe 885s will be what I go with. Also my fiancé and I do a fair bit of camping mostly at state parks but I want to try out some overland style camping, thinking Green Ridge SP. i want most of my lift to come from a tire upgrade and the suspension to handle anything from a forest service road to shitty Baltimore potholes.

Should add that the bumper addition is not in the near future.

Just trying to find in-stock sizes I've found some 285s in 17s twice recently even had a buyer cancel a 17s set of the tires I have on backorder lol

I've been to the Baltimore VA more than I wish over the past 5 years so it's handled the potholes I've found over the years at least now that isn't Caton Ave potholes those will take out your entire axel lmao. But it handled the cheese grater rt 40 has. If you need a new leaf spring set get one that will handle the cap + camp gear/RTT. Ironman has been recommended but is currently out of stock. I went with deaver but they are a few hundred more. You could get away with the stage 2 they should be cheaper and should handle 400-900 lbs
