Yep somebody cancelled cause we snaked a bunch, plus they are finally offloading a couple containers that had been doing donuts out at sea.

I need some help, can I please get some links from Home Depot on what I need to seal the bed and where I should seal it? I see most people use butyl tape but there are so many out there. I also see people use window sealant for the bed. I assume you can get most of these from Home Depot. Also, do I just pull the plastic piece from the bed up? I’m afraid I might break it without knowing there might be a screw holding onto it. Thanks for all the tips in advance!

Looking to seal as well. Maybe @mike’s custom toys can shed some light as how they install it?

We use black butyl tape to fill the gaps under the bed rail caps at the front. As well as clear lexel rubber sealant on the front edge of the caps and under the front of the bed bar. Seems to work well but not absolutely perfect.

    Hi brother,
For the sides you just need to un-snap the trim (left and right sides of the box). For the front, the metal header piece you need to unscrew (you will need a star socket). Instead of silicone I myself used polyurethane (you can find it at automotive stores, or maybe home depot might have it. Benefit of urethane over silicone is that it provides a seal without separation, silicone will). Then seal as much as you can, two tubes did the trick for me.

Haha! I’m back in business! Thanks to Chris from @OffroadAlliance.com for submitting the warranty claim. RSI mailed me the missing pigtail and it landed today! It’s getting dark now, so I’ll pull my temporary splice and install it tomorrow morning. Thank goodness it landed this weekend - I leave Monday for a multi-week hunting trip out west

Yes, the box trim pieces will unsnap quite easy, just don't need them...be gentle. Lay down the polyurethane then snap back the box trim pieces

Totally agree, I didn’t want to give anyone the impression that it isn’t an issue. I could see how going from low elevation (wet) to higher elevation (frozen) would cause the problem. Some people are drilling a hole in that cavity so water can drain out before freezing. If I have this issue that’s my first plan.

I guess my rant is sometimes on these threads it gets thick with people just repeating what they’ve heard can be an issue, making it sound more widespread than it may actually be. Even if it’s not widespread I’d consider upgrading the locks once I see what their update and cost is, even though I have not had the issue. I def wouldn’t let it (and didn’t lol) deter me from purchasing.

The being locked inside is a pretty big design flaw for sure, thankfully with a 5ft bed I don’t sleep inside mine.

I want to go a different way with my build. The smart cap gave me no troubles at all! And I will end up keeping it if I don’t sell because I do still enjoy the look of the set up.

I’m planning to get a Roofnest Condor XL. Btw how did you fit the Prinsu rack on the RSI? I need to do some research on that if you don’t mine sharing some tips. Also what’s the best way to seal the cap?

I had it professionally installed by a dealer and they water proofed it before sending me home but it looks like they used this putty stuff and bulb seal. I’m not sure what kind they used unfortunately!
And for the Prinsu rack to mount, I had to buy some weld nuts and different bolts that would slide into the t-track on top. Then I had to file the holes on the mounting brackets for the Prinsu so that the new hardware would fit through. Really easy! I just used a dremel to file out the holes.

I added a pic of the nuts and bolts I bought from Amazon.
