those 5.29 will make your truck a real stump puller!

I got my clutch done yesterday. Also put a short throw shifter in, it’s like a whole new truck now.

That short throw makes a huge difference!

Excellent! I got a drain from the boost lab on order and I’m working on more of the oil lines and fittings reqd this weekend. Won’t be long now!
The 5.29s do help a lot on the low end. They also make driving on the hwy much more pleasant. Don’t have to do the 4-5 5-4 dance anymore. Which clutch and shifter did you go with? Short shifters do make a big difference on these trucks. Stock is like rowing a boat

Got em on! Speedo is off a little bit so I’ll have to do some minor adjusting there. So far so good though, nice and quiet so far

Put the truck on a diet today. Ditched the camper, roof basket, and platform in the back. Probably somewhere around 250lbs total along with some tools and spare parts from trips.

Yes indeed, it was becoming a heavy pig so it feels like it gets up to speed a little easier now

I went with the LCE Pro clutch and a their heavy flywheel. So far I’m very happy with that setup. I towed my boat today and for once my truck really pulled well. I also lightened up my tires going with Toyo AT3 235/85 R16 tires, I think that helped a lot.

Awesome, looks like a nice setup! I am running their lightweight flywheel and i really like it. Does the heavy version help a lot when taking off while towing? that's my only complaint with the lightweight one. Takes a little more throttle input to get going without stalling it out. I bet the lighter tires did help some. I went with a lighter but taller tire this time around, and i was expecting it to be more sluggish, but it feels about the same

Towing, I barely have to give gas to get into 1st gear. Just as long as I don’t dump the clutch. I do use the e brake when pulling my boat out the launch so I do feather the gas as I let up the ebrake.

That sounds like a great combo for a heavy truck or if you tow some. Is the clutch pretty grabby or is it pretty easy to slip? I had the LCE dual comp clutch and that bad boy was like an on off switch lol

I swapped in one of the LCE clutches, on a friend's truck. A puck one, but went with the lightweight flywheel, as it already had the heavy flywheel. Pleasing response. The clutch that was on there was nearly worn out.

Any idea how much TQ that clutch handles?

It’s a bit grabby if I let up really fast, but not a on off switch if I’m letting up moderately.

    I think 300 ft lbs

Here’s my project from this weekend in addition to another oil change. I wanted a 3” exhaust into a dual 2.5” side exits for my 2.7L but no one makes that so I pieced together my own. I started out with a MBRP S5328409 catback exhaust for the 4.0 v6 which comes as a 2.5” into dual 2.5” side exits.

To convert that to a 3” cat back, I bought a borla 40349 muffler with 3” inlet and dual 2.5” outlets and a vibrant 1142 3” resonator before that to try to quiet it down a bit. To go from my 2.5” midpipe to the 3” cat back I used a 2.5” to 3” reducer/expander that I had for laying around and just added v-bands and built a 3" extension pipe to meet the vibrant resonator. Also built a hangar and added 2.5” v-bands to make the tail pipe sections more easily removable/adjustable. I used the hangers that came with the tail pipes and then added one that I bought for between the muffler and resonator.

The tail pipes go a little too close near my extended brake lines and I want to get rid of those clamps. It’s also a little too loud so I’m gonna add the mufflers from my old 2.5 exhaust to reroute the tail pipes. After some testing this weekend i found that the hangers for the tail pipes needed some adjustments so i bent those some with cheater pipe to get a little more clearance where needed. I am thinking about swapping the MBRP tips for two TRD tips that i have for the v6 catback, but that will be done when i add the other mufflers.
