So that is what the max driving would look like with the yellow driving lens on it, thanks for that comparison.

While not (yet?) available in 4000k, Luminus' SFT40 domeless emitter will seem to a next logical step from the osram boost hx. Similar intensity, slightly larger die size, capable of 2000+ lumens.

Just as with everyones offerings, heatsinking becomes the issue as you strive for increased performance.

+1 for Colton (@memario1214 ). He'll even accommodate weird requests like mine when he scrounged up the older, rounder SS3 bezels from his stockpile for my "new" cornering lights. Nothing against the current style, I just prefer these (and they match my driving pods).

Please get some output shots soon.

I've been contemplating getting a pair, but I can't quite convince myself I need some after running the Driving lens for a while.

I played around with one on a temporary harness, maybe I'll get a shot soon. They're the old pro fogs, so they'll be 4000K. It may be a while until they're fully installed, as I've run out of relays and will need to build a Bussmann box. I'm also trying to decide if I want to put them on ditch light brackets or hide them in the front grill again.

And it is compared to the driving optic.

Perfect, I'm running the same on Selective Yellow Pro's with Clear lenses for ditch lights as well.

You sir are wonderful. Thank you as always.

You could always check them out in person side-by-side when you pick up those OEM LED T4R assemblies. :)

Something that I didn't notice until recently is that the pure driving optic has fewer modifiers (columns) than the combo optic. Each driving chip has 6 full width modifiers in front of it, while the combo driving optic has 7. I'm assuming this is to make them more symmetrical with the corresponding flood pillows. As well as give a slightly bigger spread to the pattern for the combo (not as wide as a fog optic, which has many columns per optic).

That's a good catch. I had wondered why the combo optic had lower intensity than a chopped in half driving optic would have resulted in.

Great point. The data should have caused me to take a second look at the optic, being that with half driving one would expect the output intensity to be at greater than 50% of full driving, when that wasn’t the case.

I took a quick drive with the upgraded fogs the other night. Still need to dial in the aim. I've been driving with the Pros for nearly two years by now, and my first impression was that the Maxes do seem like "less" light than the Pros at first. Because of the tighter pattern, there's less spilled light on the foreground immediately in front of the vehicle and above the cutoff. I also notice a slight overall "narrowing" as well, which makes sense given that the overall pattern has shrunk from 90° to about 82°.

With that said, I think the Max is still a vast improvement. They definitely punch harder and farther. The majority of the spilled foreground light in front of the truck from the pros isn't visible from the driver seat anyway (looking over the hood). And though not as wide as the total pro pattern, the usable intensity makes the pattern "feel" wider. When driving around corners, the increased intensity carries out far to the periphery instead of tapering off like the pros do. Plus, the overall improved focus should mean that I'm able to aim them further ahead on the road, which is where they'll make their use case in bad weather. Until then, I'm happy with the upgrade.

Cornering with the maxes is where I'm the most impressed.

Granted I have no pros to compare to (until maybe my SSC2's arrive, assuming I can get them into the tundra ovals).
