Ya know I thought about that after I hit the send button, but I saw one image and then another on the internet, then cut and paste and post, and as I was thinking how true it is that the manuel transmission is really going bye-bye, I started getting pissed off and then more pissed off so I was just showing my emotions on my sleeve I guess. It does bring me to 387 by the way......Woo-hoo.

Definitely not holding my breath. I'm guessing a plug-in hybrid option and hoping for an electric option, but find even that unlikely. I have no leaked or inside information to back this up, just guessing.

    Simplicity and reliability.

Yes, I have had it floating around in my hard-drive for a long time. Don't even remember where I got it. Some 4x4 chat board in the early 2000's most likely. Decided to recycle it when I can across it one day.

So for those of you that are smart and technical, the Taco 6 speed has reverse on the left. I've mostly been doing 5 speeds with reverse to the right and down. What gives? And why is there almost no down pressure needed to put her into reverse? Hard after decades of right and down. The gate between low and reverse isn't real strong and its easy to put her into reverse when you mean low.

To the left is common in german and asian market transmissions. No down force needed for reverse just move it to the left. Also the gate on these trucks is way better than the vague feel of my Corolla XRS 6spd that I had previously.

I also installed an URD shortshifter over three years ago. That improved gate feel as well.

Side note, Black Friday will be coming up soon enough, so a good time to look for that short shifter you wanted on sale. That's when I bought mine.

i did agree after i installed the URD SS and it cleaned up the feel. that only lasted a year or a bit longer and it went mushy again. then i got the Core shifter and that's honestly the only way to go if you like it clean, tight, and mechanical. it costs more, about $300.

So what's so hard about left and up ? It took me about one day of city driving to get used to "Reverse" left and up. :burnrubber:

Normally not a hassle going left and up for reverse. Just that I have driven stuff that had a much better gate into reverse, like my old Saab c 900 or even my lameted gen 1 Taco. When plowing in low low there was a really nice move second to reverse and back many times. The design of the gate could be better. find if you shift with side pressure on the stick but even a little down pressure gets you past the reverse gate.

Tell me about the Core shifter. I'm going to have this truck a long time.

Does the Core shifter add any noise to the cab?

Now officially part of the MTrs, got the squeakies 20,000k mile in….does anyone not get the squeak at some point? And should I replace the accumulator heat shield I took off before I have them attend to the squeak??

Just something satisfying and nostalgic about a manual, miss the transfer case shifter.

Mine started squeaking at around 11k miles. But it's either intermittent or I'm just good at tuning it out most days.
What does the dealer do for it? I have my 15k service appointment next week, so I can ask them to do the thing they do?
