    Yep.
    :bananadance:

You're about to have a new truck again . Now would be the time to have any other items addressed... AC system, bypass pipe, anything that's a bitch to DIY/get too, etc.

Better off stripping the parts yourself, never know how another party will treat them. Plus, making it easier on the techs will go a long way. Toss a bottle of anti-seize in the cab for them as well, my guys used 3/4 of a full size bottle during the swap - a nice tip from @Fifthwind.

Wish I knew that tip. I had them swap in a new cv for me since my old one was torn, and asked them to put the new leaf springs I would get in the bed of the truck. I ended up reselling the leaf springs for almost the cost of a set of Dakar's.

Now is also the time to make things more easily removable as well. I made all of my items more efficient, cleaner when I reinstalled stuff, as well as added quick connects to all my wiring for anything that is removable but you don't really ever think to remove so you hardwire it. IE lights on bumpers, GFC, etc. You probably already had that foresight but it was a lesson learned for me lol.

The updates are coming from my brother in law who is a salesman there. I just finally “talked” to the tech for the first time today when he texted me saying the truck is done.

my father in law (who owns the truck and trailer I used to drop off the Tacoma) can’t help me pick up the Tacoma till Thursday, so I’m going to try towing it with the land cruiser tomorrow.

Got the shackle hangers off yesterday. Air hammer with a rivet cutter chisel took the rivet heads off, then a pencil point punch to push them through the frame. Way easier than grinding or drilling. It was raining so I didn’t do anything else.

Today I cleaned up the frame where the old hangers were. Sprayed a coat of self etching primer, then wool wax, then mounted the hammer hangers. It was humid as shit so that’s all I got done. Oh I also cleaned up the u bolt flip plates and shot a coat of primer and paint on those and the new u bolts.

hopefully the weather will be good for the rest of the week so I can make some progress.

Today I hung the leaf springs and cleaned up some rust on the rear axle. Put total boat rust primer on it. It’s basically phosphoric acid. It says to let dry overnight..

    And now it just rained..

So I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow I guess.

best of luck with the process man.

I hate South Carolina for a bevy of reasons but rust and salt is not one of them.

I’ve used phosphoric acids for rust conversion with good results. Usually mine always said to actually rinse it so you stop the chemical reaction.

Haven’t updated in a while.. it’s been taking a while to get anything done.

bumpers got sand blasted, primer, paint. They both needed some work. Rear needed some plates added where rust had eaten away at it. Front got a 2” receiver hitch and some grille/headlight protection. Also just did the cab mount chop and plated it.

Still have a few things left to do, but it’s almost done.
